Marvel Ultimate Alliance introduced me to so many characters as a kid. You had to fight Arcade in Murderworld! You travelled to Atlantis and fought Attuma! Not just Attuma, though. No, we had Prince Byrrah and Warlord Krang and Tiger Shark! Namor wasn't playable, but he was there! It was amazing. You met Dum Dum Dugan at an AIM base, you had to travel to Mephisto's Realm and make a choice of which X-Man to let live and which to let die. Jean Grey or Nightcrawler, Mephisto will claim one. It's actually full of cool things. You could meet Clea and Wong and The Ancient One in the Sanctum Sanctorum!
Then there was Attilan. Gods, I remember Attilan. After journeying through asgard, Loki and Doctor Doom almost destroy our heroes. Or something like that. The earth is being forcibly remade in doom's image, but Uatu the Watcher saves everyone and brings them to the blue side of the moon. There you meet Uatu and Black Bolt and Medusa and Crystal and Karnak and Gorgon and Triton and Lockjaw! You meet all of them! Then you have to fight the Skrulls and the Shi'ar! And you face off with Galactus! Paibok the Power Skrull and the Super Skrull both appear. The game covered all it's bases.
You get to see basically every corner of the Marvel universe in that game, and I loved it as a kid. There was so much there for me to learn about, and it's probably the reason I know about Marvel. Not because of the MCU or anything, but because of this game and it's laundry list of characters. It was really fun to play, and it was full of cool comic references and things.
