Okay, but consider....

If Thorin is married to Bilbo...

And Kíli is married to Tauriel (or another Non-Dwarf spouse, or two)...

Then with Fíli married to Ori, the potential for shenanigans is further strengthened.

If we go with the headcanon that Ori grew up as childhood friends with the brothers, then he would know intimate details about Fíli, Kíli and Thorin's lives. He could tell the other consorts things they wouldn't know.

Also, Ori might be quiet, but he could be mischievous, too. Ori could teach the other consorts about certain Dwarven cultural things that maybe Bilbo, Tauriel, etc. wouldn't know? Which could be used for good, or pranking.

I just think that you can take this in A LOT of directions, but there's POTENTIAL.

(Also, platonic bonding moments? Family fluff? Friendship and fluff?)

The line of Durin's spouses would need to bond to survive them all. /lighthearted, joking. Lol.

"Do you ever stop talking?" Legolas asked, caught between amusement and annoyance.

The question, briefly, gave Kíli pause, before he shrugged. "Yes, given the right incentive."

Legolas leaned down and grasped Kíli's face on either side, then murmured, "Is this reason enough?"

Kíli gulped, nodding. "Yes."

Their lips met, and Kíli added kissing Legolas to the list of things he preferred over his own voice.

thinking abt kili/legolas (fic idea??? who knows) and i made myself sad bc i thought abt what if kili still dies at the end of bofta and it makes legolas take after his dad in that he starts shutting out the world bc surely protecting himself from this kind of pain is worth the loneliness….

and when he joins the fellowship and encounters gimli,, he is automatically hostile towards him bc he can't bear to face Any reminders of the dwarf he's lost… but the way gimli snarks back and doesnt take his shit reminds him of kili, painfully so, and then Moria happens, and gimli is so openly grieving balin and ori and somehow it only feels right to admit to his own loss, to extend condolences by sharing his own grief, and when he finds out that gimli not only knew kili but had been good friends, they grieve together… and they grow closer.

they speak of their loss as they stay in lothlorien, and as they continue on their journey and they grow closer still, to the point where legolas recognizes in himself similar feelings that he'd felt for kili now for gimli, legolas struggles with the guilt of perhaps loving another, and when gimli tries to ask for their relationship to be more than companions, legolas admits to his feelings -- both for gimli, but for that of which he still holds for kili -- and gimli contemplates this, but is accepting.

and legolas cant help but wonder if kili would have approved, and he does think that kili would not have wanted him to deny himself happiness in his memory.

and then he cant help but wonder if kili had not led him here, to becoming this with gimli, for it had been kili himself that had brought them closer in their grief.

idk how id end this tbh,, maybe smth abt beads that kili made that he had given one to gimli in friendship years ago, and one he had made for legolas shortly before dying in botfa and its a set, a pair, a connection despite the tragic loss...

Ooh, thank you SO much for this ask! I needed some time to think about it, because the last time I was asked, I had even less posted. Now, I've got 175 things on AO3, and... yeah. Lol. (So, I think it can be assumed by this point that anything KnittedLion is my absolute fave, and for that reason, I am going to skip over a few of theirs in favor of other rarepair fics I've been thoroughly loving writing then reading.)

The other times I've answered this are here, here, and here, so I'm going to go down the line from those. <3 (Leaving everything under the cut, because this is quite a long post.)

16. A Love Worth Waiting For

Rating: E

Pairing (s): Fem!Fíliori (KnittedLion), Kíliel

Word Count: 18,875 words. (COMPLETE)

Summary:

When Lady Orianna, known to those closer to her as Ori, and her cousin Tauriel visit the estate of Lord Duke Thorin Durin, both are allowed love stories of their own choosing at last.

OR: Fíli and Ori's respective meddling but loving family members who know each of them well, also known as Kíli and Tauriel, try their hand at matchmaking, leading to the best possible outcome. The result surprises only the two women drawn together, who find in each other a once in a lifetime love story wholly their own.

Explanation: So, essentially, I just love this fic for the story itself. Which, if I hadn't been sick whilst writing it, or had a deadline, I would have actually expanded a bit more. There were many things I wanted to include, but due to time constraints, could not. Overall, I am very proud of this fic, for my first Regency, and I just really love Fíli and Ori here, as well as their various family members who make an appearance. I made a playlist for it, and have a Gigolas sequel planned, because I love it that much. It lives rent free in my head always, and is a comfort fic I re-read often.

17. Making A Memory

Summary:

Ori and Fíli both thought they would never see each other again. However, thanks to one best friend and the best brother ever, that isn't the case.

After years of not talking following their initial break up, they finally work it out the night of Gimli's stag do, thanks to Kíli's meddling.

What happens after is a second chance to begin anew, whilst making a memory, or two.

Explanation: This fic began for a number of reasons, but it took over my brain at various points during the last year and is one I repeatedly return to, personally. I love the second chance romance of it all, as well as two individuals having to re-learn each other in who they have become after having time apart to grow on their own. That and the bits of commentary I made on various little things regarding Queerness, overall. Two imperfect people, loving each other again, just gets me all mushy, I guess. Also, casual mentions of other Queer representation that are not as often shown. (This fic, like the one above, was actually meant to be longer, but I decided to focus in on KnittedLion, so that greatly reduced what I inevitably posted as the final draft.) Also, also, yes, Making a Memory by Bon Jovi was on repeat as I wrote it, though there IS a happy ending, and no cheating involved at all. Also x3, yes, there is a sequel full of fluff, tenderness, and some smut. Because I adored the initial fic so much, and I need them to have a happier fic after what I put them through. Lol.

18. Forever Begins Now

Word Count: 500 words. (COMPLETE)

Summary:

Fíli and Ori were friends and then childhood sweethearts years ago, eventually separated by time and unfortunate circumstances. Before they were parted, the two made necklaces for the other to wear, which unbeknownst to them both, they each continued wearing years later.

That is, until they meet again in Bag End.

The two are overjoyed to see each other finally. Meanwhile, though a quest is about to begin, so is their love story all over again.

Explanation: This is just the shortest and fluffiest little fic, which I hope to turn into a full-length multi-chapter, one day. I love the concept and the song & edit that made me want to write it to begin with. I re-read it often, ngl.

19. Catalyst

Rating: E

Pairing (s): Kigolas (Archer4Archer)

Word Count: 2,005 words.

Summary:

Kíli was searching the greenery around the mountain when he came across him.

Prince Legolas.

Except, unlike the last time they had crossed paths many years before, he didn't look quite so regal.

OR: Kíli discovers Legolas in heat and offers him assistance. They snark and have smut about it. Somewhere along the way, a certain prince discovers perhaps he doesn't dislike the other quite so much, after all.

Explanation: This pairing took over my brain recently. After writing this fic, which I've re-read for fun a few times already, I cannot help but ship these two so hard. I love their dynamic here, and I want to continue in that vein with them elsewhere, as well. However, this actually has a sequel I can't wait to finish, eventually.

20. To Forge Hearth and Home

Rating: Teen

Pairing (s): Kíli/Sigrid (Kígrid)

Word Count: 18, 945 words. (ONGOING.)

Summary:

Sigrid knows next to nothing about Dwarves, except some saved her and her siblings' lives when they were children, fifteen years ago. Since then, she has had little contact with them unless it was necessary for diplomacy.

Kíli knows something of Men but isn't terribly impressed, and even a bit wary of them, given their poor treatment of Dwarves at large.

Soon, they are to be wed when tensions between Dwarves and Men reach a boiling point. In each other, they will eventually find their One, as much as hearth and home.

Explanation: I fell in love with this pairing by accident, as I have with many rarepairs. This fic is actually the first fic dedicated to them as a couple where they're not shipped with anyone else. Though I prefer to let Sigrid have adventure and not go the traditional route with her of another Arranged Marriage AU, this idea took hold and would NOT let go. Now, I'm building it into something beyond simply the relationship between her and Kíli, though I really love them together. They just make sense to me in my brain and are SO adorable. Regardless, I love them both as characters and have enjoyed writing from both of their POVs more in various fics.
