I've been seeing some very fun/cursed Eridian Ocs circling around, and I wanted to finally toss in one of my own..! Meet Tall Creature, Archy!

The kind of cynicism in the YouTube comment below honestly made me a little sad? It's a mindset I think is increasingly and concerningly widespread online. I DO understand being skeptical and cautious, but I too often get the sense that people don't want others to ever grow and get better after screwing up.

A key part of the story I'm trying to tell through Rockoon's character arc is that the journey to redemption and self-betterment begins as a very personal and intimate one. To Rocky, his protective kindness toward Archy is not a performative show for an audience. It's very real and just for the two of them to experience together.

Whether or not he's only doing it to relieve his own guilt and depression, it's still a meaningfully good, positive action he's putting out into the world for someone who clearly needs it.

The only way it isn't, is if Rock's only pretending to be Archy's friend and secretly dislikes him. His guilt still affects him in a way that makes that possibility very unlikely.
