Ironwork in the staircase of an about 120 years old building in Seisgasse, Vienna, Austria, 30 March 2017 – This is a noticeable example of appropriation of an imperial symbol by the emerging bourgeoisie, or middle class, the social and political emergence of which was made visible by extensive construction programs, one of them resulting in the afore-mentioned appropriation.
