⚔ - Jake waits at the front desk as the librarian processes his returned books, foot idly tapping against the ground as he waits for her to finish. He had been planning on checking out a few more today, if they had anything new in stock. 

Reading wasn’t exactly the half-elf’s favorite thing to do (not because he was dumb, but because he got restless quickly), but if it meant being a better father to Orland, he was more than happy to do it. Well. Maybe not happy... but it was a necessary sacrifice, one he was willing to make.

Once the librarian lets him know everything is in order, Jake nods, turning to head into the library proper when---

“Whoa. ‘Scuse me.” He takes a step back before running into the taller man that had been approaching the desk, a vague sense of familiarity striking the half-elf when his eyes land on the man’s face. Did he know this guy from somewhere?

Can you Tuna Fish?| Soseki & Marla

♪ “How much fish, would fish man wish for if a fish man could wish fish? Ba dum dum! or how about the fish? would a fish wish for a man? would a fish wish for a man? would it be like bam! The fish got herself a man. Ba dum dum!” ♫

Singing to herself a little diddy she had come up with while walking home from school, Marla looked out at the sea, it was still a little too chilly to go swimming or surfing, but there did appear to be a man fishing. Curious to see if he had caught anything, the teen made a detour over to the dock the man had sat on song repeating as she did.

Assuming he heard her coming by her silly song, Marla stood next to him, peering over the dock into the water below. She didn’t see any fish... but maybe she had scared them off by being too loud. Lowering her voice she glanced over at the fisherman.

“Getting any nibbles?”

◤ Perhaps it’s been a minute since he and Soseki have spent a considerable amount of time together, but Sebastian knows enough about himself and his life to know that he still considers him a friend. That’s why he comes and delivers  one yellow gerbera (cheerfulness), one yellow rose (friendship and caring), and one purple anemone (luck and protection against evil) to him. ◢

◤ “I figured it wouldn’t be too bad to extend my flower-greetings,” he says, handing them over. “Uh-- they’re just some friendship flowers. And a protection one, because... y’know.” Shit, he’s bad with this. He thought he got better about expressing his feelings with Sam, but... ◢

◤ What he really won’t say is that the gerbera is to hopefully bring a little more sunlight into Soseki’s life. They’re more alike than Sebastian might want, when it comes to their own heads, but he’s sure Soseki’s getting along fine... A little help in a small flower, if that’s even possible, certainly should be appreciated, though. ◢

Another Goodbye || Soseki & Marlin

The regulars to The Blue Horseshoe were something he could easily rely on for a good time, more often than not. There were those that regaled him with long tales of the past, those that gave entertainment from how often they struck out while flirting with someone new every hour, and even the quiet ones who tipped better than anyone else in the damn place.

There were a few, however, that he preferred the company of more often than not, and on a quiet Tuesday evening, the door opened to reveal one of them.

It was a slow night. Marlin glanced up, saw Soseki entered the bar, and his lips quirked only slightly in greeting before he began mixing. The Toasted Almond came together quickly - Amaretto, coffee liqueur, and cream - and by the time Soseki took his seat, Marlin set it in front of him.

“Should I go ahead and start making another?” he teased gruffly.

Troublemaker || Elliott & Soseki

It wasn’t every day that Elliott hand delivered Soseki his royalties check from what books of his sold at Good Vibrations - in fact, the only times he ever did that was when he most desired attention or general mayhem that day. Soseki wasn’t a bad guy, but he certainly needed a bit of fun in his old age, and why not bring it to him under the guise of good business?

Besides, from what little he’d seen of the man’s boss at the library, he was a bit of a bastard, and the likelihood that Elliott would also get a chance to ruin such a person’s day was irresistible.

He came into the library, humming under his breath and scanning the shelves as he passed, before he stopped on his heel when he saw a familiar tall figure. “Ah!” Elliott came down the aisle, brandishing an envelope - inside was a thorough record of sales and a check. “Soseki~ What a pleasure to see you~!”

Let’s Talk About Books, Baby || Molly & Soseki

Molly always kept a book within her bag to pull out during what little spare time she actually had while working. She enjoyed reading, finding it always to help her strengthen her own vocabulary, as she found she was always learning something new. 

She had no shame of course reading a few, sultry, steamy romance novels, the young woman always finding herself falling into a fit of giggles each time a particularly salacious scene came up within the story. Of course, being the new owner of an adult shop, it was only natural for Molly to wonder if perhaps these books might make interesting stock for the store to sell. Sure, they were probably sold in normal bookstores, but it would only make sense for an erotic themed shop to sell erotic themed novels, right?

Right, she had decided, flipping to the inside cover of the novel she had been reading, in hopes to find some sort of contact for this ‘Natsume Sōseki.’ A publisher’s contact was what she found instead, helpful of course, in that said publisher was able to offer her the contact for the novelist.

Email seemed to be the best method. So an email it was she began to compose.

Dear Mr. Sōseki,

I received your contact from your publisher.

My name is Molly Cappelli. I have recently become the new owner of an adult shop located on Leuda Island, recently renovated and renamed as ‘Good Vibrations’. After reading and enjoying your novels, I had thought it a potentially good idea to stock your novels within the store, should you be interested of course.
