Costis: It seems like bad things keep happening to me, like I have bad luck or something.
Aris: Costis, you don’t have bad luck. The reason bad things happen to you is because you’re a dumbass.
Aris: So what's up with Kamet?
Costis: Ugh. He's just very high maintenance. Not a fan of physical discomfort, doesn't appreciate the desert rats I hunted for dinner, doesn't like Attolia, thinks I'm a country bumpkin, is pretty vocal about his judgement a sometimes and basically silently judging all other times. All-around insufferable snob, you know the type.
Aris: ......
Costis: ......
Aris: You're going to sleep with him, aren't you?
Costis: God, I hope so.
I love how Costis is always going to extreme lengths to try and keep Gen safe, and gets called on to follow him around into dangerous circumstances, meanwhile Aris is like, if this fool wants to go risk his life, along with the life of another head of state, he’s going to pay me for the privilege
