This is Kaien, my rescue HuskyMal<3 he has been the most tolerant and loving boy! As you can see I've used him in many of my photos (even the ones with me in them...yep old school tripod and RUN AND POSE) and he's been great to use in period photo shoots as "a wolf"(lol he's too small) anyhow, I've turned on Tips as I've fallen on hard times financially with a big "separation", losing my job and then moving states. Nearly Christmas few companies are looking to hire. and yesterday we had a HUGE Vet bill as the poor guy is sick Pancreatitis they think A vet bill that would set me back with a job a month. I put it on the Credit card but... trying to do what I can while still job hunting. Yep looking for money but in return if you send a tip, send a question. about Silicone casting, trapunto stitch, airbrushing, fiberglass, armoring, Kimono's, dyeing... and I'll post information on the techniques. I'm also a photographer of 30 years so questions to those are also open. Merr Sonn Firepuncher 773 Crosshair sniper rifle build WiP

First regular primer coating! It's getting there. I'm going to paint it with a friend after the lockdown here (Netherlands) ends.

It's going to be used for my Mandalorian Sniper build. ❤️

I've made a lot of progress on the shoulders for my Guild Wars 2 armor. These were quite challenging because this is my first complex foam build with no worbla, except for the base. I chose foam because it's lightweight and I don't want my shoulders to be destroyed by huge, heavy pauldrons.

I attempted to use foam clay (the black stuff in the one on the left) to fill in some of the gaps, but it's not working to my satisfaction, so I'm going to try Kwik Seal at a later point. Foam clay does seem like it will be useful for small details like the gems, though.

The circles and center panel are place holders until I order acrylic for the light up "windows."

I promise you all, I'm not dead XD Something about the move across the country and the transition from grad school to a full time job killed my motivation this past year. I guess I was burned out and just needed a break. The beautiful California weather definitely isn't helping since I want to be outside all the time haha. Thankfully, I've been more motivated recently, especially since attending the Maker's Faire a couple weeks ago (out of cosplay because it was pouring).

Anyway, I've been slowly working on my Guild Wars 2 cosplay, and here's the progress so far. Materials are single layer worbla and thibra over foam. The shoulder is a prototype, hence the masking tape. I'm thinking I'm going to make the shoulders almost completely out of foam so they don't hurt to wear. Some of the foam will eventually be replaced with plexiglass and LEDs. The breastplate looks plain right now, but it will have details on top and light up panels.

Armoring

So after some thinking, I’ve decided that the armor I use now for practice is what I’ll use 70% of the time while in armor. I don’t need to change anything, and I don’t want to change it.

However, I still want to build armor. So! I’m going to do just that. I’m stepping away from Norse designs and trying out some of my other favorites.

Suit number one is going to be a 14th Century Splint/Brigadine suit. Much like this one:

I will be making just about everything from scratch. Including the helm!

Now the second suit of armor I’m going to put together is going to be a suit of ō-yoroi, or Samurai armor. I’m still working on putting together the entire plan for this suit, but it’s getting there!

So yeah, I may go with my original plan and make three suits; one to partially replace the one I use now and the two mentioned above, or just make these two. But these two will certainly get made!

Has anyone worked with thibra yet? How would you rate it out of 10?

Started serious work on my new Lady Sif cosplay, got a giant piece of worbla to work with, plus a ton of foam. Tonight was spent measuring and cutting pieces as well as testing how best to cover the surfaces with paint/ rubnbuff. Any tips or input is welcome!!

Would anyone be interested in a possible livestream of me working on armor? I kind of want a way to motivate myself to get further towards completion of the Felix suit. Possible armor pieces would be chest and shoulders. Shoulders will be built while chest would be detail work.

Also I'm contemplating on doing a new helmet for the armor that's a bit more en-tune to what's seen in game. Also the other has a ton of signatures on it. Not that I complain but I think a non decorated and more detailed version wouldn't hurt. (Save for that I'll have to probably hunt down Miles at this year's RTX cause his signature is as much of a necessary detail on that helmet like the skull.)
