Summary:

Every muscle in Crowley’s body clenched as the previous day came rushing back. Not a dream. Aziraphale was real, solid, and alive. He was here, he was back, he was…

He was currently making himself a little too much at home in Crowley’s personal space.

(Aziraphale has unknowingly spent over a year on a simulated Earth, building a relationship with an imaginary version of Crowley. Crowley has spent that time alone, miserable, and unsure if he'd ever see his best friend again. Now together and safe once more, they learn how to navigate the new reality in which they find themselves.)

Most of y’all are probably going to disagree with me here (and that’s okay!), but I gotta say this-

I really hope Crowley and Aziraphale don’t kiss in season two.

Like I’m all for their relationship being more affectionate now that they can be affectionate, but I’m aroace and we don’t really get a lot of representation and when we do it’s often unsaid. I see Crowley and Aziraphale as queer platonic partners, they’re both aroace too in my mind, and if they kiss I know that’s going to be interpreted as romantic by the audience and it’s going to become much more difficult to see myself in them if the consensus is that they’re in a romantic relationship.

Again, this is just me, and I certainly wouldn’t be upset if they were to enter a canonically romantic relationship. That’s still a queer win! But personally, I hope it stays ambiguous so I can live in my little la la world where I have an aroace Demon and Angel to look up to.

The fact that a character saying “oh, he’s my /friend/“ In a movie automatically takes the importance, depth, and love out of their relationship is AMATONORMATIVE CRAP. I’m reading things about Good Omens where they call each other “friends,” and I’m realizing that it doesn’t take anything away from their relationship. They’re still in a love story, and they’re friends at the same time. !!

Exactly!! That's why I love Good Omens so much; it's one of the most authentic and touching portrayals of a love story without romantic love that I've ever seen. I could get into all the details of that but it would be a super long post 😂 but in short, even in the moments where characters assume there's "something between" them, it's never explicitly romantic or amatonormative (such as with Anathema realizing that "she was never in any danger at all". Clearly she sees the commitment between the two of them, but it's never pushed into being anything other than what it is).

Combined with Neil saying he wouldn't rule out the possibility that Aziraphale and Crowley "could be ace, or aromantic" (love how he recognized the distinction between the two!!!), and then saying that whatever they are, "it's a love story"--Good Omens is just so utterly good and I love it
