Team Oliver or Team Felicity?
So, I'm seeing a lot of debating going on in the Olicity fandom about who's side they should be on: Felicity's or Oliver's? Most people are siding with Felicity and getting pissed at Oliver for deciding to ask for Merlyn's help. But I also know some people who are pissed at Felicity because she is not really giving Oliver a chance to explain. I can see both sides, and have decided to remain neutral. One the one side, Oliver is protecting his sister in the only way that he knows how. He needs the skills that Merlyn can teach him. Because he has already tried to go after Ra's without them and we know how that turned out. He also has to deal with the fact that he is the father of his only family, and that killing him (while she has no idea she has been manipulated by him) will rip her away. He is not excusing Malcolm's actions by learning from him. He is USING Malcolm's guilt and skills to help him right just one of the multitude of wrongs he has committed. He is using Thea's name and presence to manipulate Malcolm. But Felicity is right in her feelings as well. We are seeing the story from all sides, not just one or the other. She does not see this as Oliver protecting Thea. She sees this as Oliver selling his soul to one demon to slay another. He had not even been back for 5 minutes before he is telling her that he is teaming up with the man that sent him to his death. And she is correct. Malcolm used one woman he loved to kill another woman he loved. The women that Oliver love tend to have nothing but pain, heartbreak, a shorten lifespan, or some combination of these. Felicity has been used to distract an enemy of Oliver's before...and she does not wish to be bait once again. So she is going to run fast and far, to protect her heart from the pain that she has already been feeling these past few weeks. So remember! Both characters are entitled to their feelings! And this does not mean that Olicity is over...this is a speed bump. Happy shipping! I'm going to go read/write some less angsty fanfiction now...
