I recently purchased some handmade watercolor paints from my friend Emily over @artemispaints and thought I'd share some test swatches. Firstly, the packaging was beautiful and Emily sent a bonus mini watercolor journal (chapstick for size ref), a paint tin with swatch card, pipette, mini pencil, and I'm pretty sure an additional paint pan (thanks Em!). The paints colors I purchased are: Salazar, Mushroom, Pipestone, Caput Mortem, and Dagny. I think Malachite was an added bonus, and I decided to include Carbonite (a previous purchase). All the paints are simply beautiful. Malachite and Pipestone are a bit more granular than I tend to like (also dry with a slightly sandy texture), but the pigments are just gorgeous. Salazar is a bit more muted than her store showed, and is a bit more of a rich, creamy jade. Caput Mortem saturates much deeper than I expected. Mushroom is a lovely earthy, slightly retro color. The later three are marvelous in particular to lay down. Lastly are Dagny and Carbonite. I've used Carbonite before, it's a graphite paint that I really enjoy painting with vs normal pencil shading. And Dagny, well, I can't rave enough about this color! Emily says it's a deep Indigo Blue, but I think it verges on black. Nevertheless it's a new hardcore favorite of mine, the color itself is beautiful, and rich, the application is smooth, and I can't wait to start using it more often. I'll definitely be buying a few more pans of it in the future! My only complaint is minor (especially since it relates to a complimentary gift). The swatch card in the tin is adhered on, and I almost tore it trying to pull it out. This isn't a huge issue really, but I do like to laminate my swatch cards once they're full so they don't get dirty later from use. Let me know if you'd like to see more stuff like these swatch cards. Also check out my friend's Instagram and linktree for where to buy watercolors or watercolor books. Just save the Dagny for me! 😉 #artemispaints #handmadesketchbook #handmadewatercolors #productreviews #paintreview #watercolors #colorswatches https://www.instagram.com/p/B7uv3KOjy2A/?igshid=1ro1utllod15i
