ArtCrawl Harlem’s Boundaries & Connections Artist Residency is thrilled to announce the 2026 Artist Residency on Governors Island, NYC, centered on the theme Afro-Futurism / New World Building. This residency invites artists working across disciplines—painting, collage, photography, literary arts, interdisciplinary practices, and beyond—to imagine, speculate, and create futures rooted in Black culture, innovation, memory, and possibility.

Application Deadline: Friday, March 15, 2025

This residency is a space for bold visioning. Artists are encouraged to explore Afro-Futurist and or New World Building narratives,; speculative futures, ancestral technologies, liberated worlds, and radical reimaginings of space, time, identity, and community. Selected artists will be immersed in the dynamic landscape of Governors Island, engaging with a vibrant cohort of creatives while developing work that pushes boundaries and builds new worlds.
