“You’re not ugly,” said Viktor. “Although, I am used to physical deformity. But mine are much easier to hide. May I?” Silco looked up in confusion, which seemed to be permission enough. Viktor held up a hand in front of the scarred side of Silco’s face, closing one eye so he could only see the unblemished right half. Silco blinked, strangely self-conscious. He felt like an insect about to be pinned. “You’re not actually very old, are you?” asked Viktor, still holding up his hand.
