5 Faith Ringgold (US) 🇺🇸 revolutionized contemporary art with her narrative quilts that combine painting, fabric, and storytelling to address race and gender in America.
6 Lita Cerqueira (Brazil) 🇧🇷 is a photographer who captured everyday life, often documenting Afro-Brazilian cultural elements and communities with striking imagery.
7 Lauren Halsey (US) 🇺🇸 creates immersive installations combining Afrofuturism with architecture to celebrate and preserve Black cultural histories from South Central Los Angeles.
8 Njideka Akunyili Crosby (Nigeria) 🇳🇬 is known for her densely layered mixed-media works that combine painting with photographic transfers to explore her own cultural hybridity and identity.
