Thank you to @mellybaggins, @arzen9, @anacdoce, @hellethil, and @saucy-scribbler for tagging me in this. Sorry I haven't been responsive to WIP tags – I'm still settling in and trying desperately to get a good routine together. But please do keep tagging me in those!
Okay, to the actual game.
on your computer | on your phone
I can write on both. But generally I feel like I write better on my laptop, because booting up the laptop takes some locking in. If I'm writing on my phone, I'm generally sprawled on my bed (and therefore at risk of falling asleep in the middle of typing) or I'm trying to write while waiting for the bus or something like that. Basically, my head isn't all there.
I want to write a multichapter fic. I do. But one-shots mean I can point to a finished story. So it gives me quite the sense of accomplishment to finish one.
<5k or 5-10k | >10k words per chapter
I've been trying not to compare chapter lengths to the chapter lengths of other folks. If I feel like the chapter is done, the chapter's done. And I've never had a chapter go up to 10k.
chronologically | jump back and forth
I prefer to write chronologically. But if I get stuck I'll jump around a bit.
planning things out | winging it
I'll outline for the longfic, but yeah, normally an idea for a oneshot springs from somewhere, I write the actual idea down as fast as I can so I don't lose it, and go from there.
drabbles | plot | character study
CHARACTER STUDY, MY BELOVED. Sometimes it's fun to do this through the eyes of another character.
Dialogue is so much easier for me to write than action.
looks into the camera like I'm on The Office
It's always fun to drop things for readers to speculate about! (I'm very entertained when I post a snippet with an OC who isn't Diana and someone goes "Ooh, who's this person?")
alternate universe | close to canon
I love lore. I will always try to stick with canon lore.
writing new content | editing your work
I spend so much more time editing than I do writing new content. It's honestly a problem.
finishing a WIP | starting a new one
I go feral when I'm close to finishing a WIP. I think I rush endings because of that sometimes because I'm just too excited.
No-pressure tagging @honeybummer, @vixstarria, @spite-made-me, and @bardic-inspo if y'all want to play!
