Ash ( @ashanimus​ ) and I watched the first episode of American Gods tonight, and here are our reactions as we were watching and what we thought afterwards, put under a cut for spoilers

Hey, as a distraction from all the spoilers (ugh), how do you think it would affect Hunter’s mental state/recovery to have a direct hand in defeating/killing Belos at this point, alongside the rest of our heroes? I have no idea how they’re going to handle it, but given how unflinching this show is I can’t help but speculate on this non-zero possibility and wonder about the ramifications.

Yea it would mess him up for sure. A good amount of false guilt, questioning his own decisions and the group's decisions, and trying hard to rationalize and justify it yet experiencing grief.

I'd like to think that if they ever go to that extent, It would perhaps be an accident and painted in a tragic light. Because even though we see Hunter's crystal clear determination to fight back at the end of Thanks to Them, I don't think they'd want to show Hunter having a straightforward thought process like "Yup okay, he needs to go down" and having his emotional expression be flat and monotone in the upcoming battle.

Hunter would already be impacted by how Flapjack was, technically, mortally wounded by his hands. So if your speculations are indeed canon, it would add another layer of complex traumatic grief :O
