It Might Be COVID

I’ve been really sick. Initially, I thought it was a sinus infection, but I’ve got a bunch of symptoms I don’t have when I have a sinus infection. Mum also has what she thought was a sinus infection, but apparently she should have been swabbed at that appointment since she works at the hospital - the employee health department was pissed she wasn’t.

So we go get tested tomorrow at noon. I’ve mostly been sleeping to avoid the nausea and coughing, and will continue to mostly sleep.

I am in the hospital right now.

My kidneys are acutely damaged, and so I am being monitored, at the moment.

Thus far, I should be leaving on Thursday, but I am concerned it may be longer, due to how slowly my creatinine levels are lowering.

Needless to say, I am out of game until further notice.

Great...

As if this week weren’t already absolute hell, I’ve had progressive difficulties breathing throughout today.

I can feel my bronchial passageways whenever I breathe in. I started coughing a little earlier today. When I tried to lay down to sleep, I had even more trouble breathing. Tried my emergency inhaler, and now I’m coughing more.

This is around the time I often get bronchitis, so I’m hoping that’s what it is. But I’ve had close contact with someone who has been travelling recently - he was in Michigan, and went through the Scranton airport here...and both places had the start of reported cases right as he was heading back here.

For once in my life, I’m actually hoping it’s just bronchitis.

Back

Mum bought me upgrades for my PC with part of her tax returns.

There were a couple of unexpected issues, but a friend and I got my machine back up and running tonight.

It’s really weird because despite having a massive cooling system, Kyp’s the quietest he’s been since like...2001ish.

XIV runs really smooth and I was averaging around 50 - 55 fps steady. Hopefully J:FO is too - gonna wait till tomorrow to dive into that, cus I’m dead tired.

Tax Season

Every other tax season, mum pays to upgrade my PC as payment for my doing her taxes, and for keeping her laptop running.

We had to get a GPU last year, so that part’s been skipped. But I just ordered a Ryzen 9 3900X, Asus ROG Strix X570-E motherboard, and a Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB (2x16GB) kit.

I eventually need to get another SSD, but my current SSD and HDDs can manage for now.

It’ll all be here by Saturday, and once everything’s set up, I’ll be getting back to doing stuff on Twitch. I was getting a bit of lag any time I tried to play Star Wars - Jedi: Fallen Order along with some weird sound stuttering. Hopefully, it’s smooth once I upgrade.

Extended Hiatus from XIV

I’m taking a break from XIV, with no set time on when that’ll change.

The past year and a half, two years have had way more bad than good in them. A lot of the bad has come specifically from being involved in XIV. As more and more incidents occurred, the more I questioned whether or not sticking around was a good idea or not.

While I’m not cancelling my subscription, I’m not going to be doing any community-based shite. I might log in to try and keep up on content, or to decorate one of the living spaces I have, but most...I’m just done with XIV right now.

Everything has just left me with the lowest amount of faith in people I’ve had in the past 10 - 20 years. I really can’t think of any other thing I’ve been involved with that’s resulted in this much apathy and lack of desire for interaction.

The content-focus for this Tumblr’ll probably change because of this. If you started following for the XIV content, unfollowing now is totally understandable.

I’m just very done.

More Updates

Obviously, I am still alive and getting a bit better.

I’m forcing myself to lay down whenever the pain starts to ratchet to 7 (it’s tending to sit at 6 or so) to avoid another trip to the ED.

Sometime today (Monday), the OTC version of lidocaine patches along with some thick silk tape to keep them from slipping off due to movement, thanks to the free next day delivery a lot of Prime options have now. The back of the neck’s kind of a horrible place for patches, because even the smallest turns of your head cause them to mess up. That thick silk tape worked amazingly well to keep them on.

Hopefully, that and the lesser quality CBD oil I have (it’s still decent quality, just not Canna Trading level) should keep me semi-functional till the medicinal THC card turns up.
