Whumpee is either kidnapped or sold into a facility, where there are others like them. They get 2 hours of free time per day, where they socialize, then are forced into a glass care maybe 5-6 square feet. The room around them, which is a long hallway, is completely dark. Then, there are the experiments. Inserting foreign technology into the body to see how it reacts. And Whumpee isn't numbed for any of it. They're restrained and their body is cut into, with tools ranging from scalpels to bone saws. They are completely conscious during all of this unless they pass out from sheer pain.
The end product is a whumpee that has constant pain, with a body that can literally be overridden, but with a mind that keeps all the trauma. And even if they're rescued, the people running the facility can still hack into their technological implants, causing them to hurt or kill those they care about and making them walk back to the facility, even if their mind is screaming no and trying to resist.
Team can either figure out how to disable the tech, but is left with a whumpee that just... isn't human anymore. Not fully at least, seeing as how Whumpee can fully toggle their emotions, their pain, their empathy, even their strength and adrenaline. Or... team doesn't figure it out in time and ends up being murdered systematically by whumpee, who hates every second of it, but they literally can't stop their body.
Kinda curious to see what u do with this!
"LEADER", Whumpee yelled, "Leader, help me please", they sobbed.
Leader came running to the upstairs railing.
"WHUMPEE, WHO LET YOU OUT?", Leader yelled before hurrying to the stairs.
"The door wasn't locked properly. It found the weak point", Whumpee sobbed, "please stop me, I don't want to go back."
Caretaker hurried down the steps to help.
"What is going on?", a new team member watched from the railing.
"I'll explain later Avi, go get one of the ATVs", Leader ordered as they quickly grabbed ropes.
Caretaker was already wrapping one rope around Whumpee to help with pulling them back.
"Leader, I need help", Caretaker grunted as they started to pull.
"Hurry, if Whumpee gets out of this building, a tracker will go off. It will put all of us at risk", Leader hurried to wrap the rope around Whumpee's feet, "Whumpee, prepare yourself, I'm dropping you on your butt."
With a sudden pull, Whumpee fell to the ground.
"I'm sorry Whumpee", Leader apologized as they worked at pulling the rope to keep Whumpee from getting up.
"It's okay... I've had worse", Whumpee grunted.
"Hold this... don't let it slack", Leader ordered as they climbed into the seat.
"Woe", Avi felt a sudden pull.
"Yep, they are quite strong", Caretaker smiled weakly, "this is why they are locked in a caged room, it's so they can't get out."
"I still don't understand what's happening", Avi gasped as the a few sudden yanks from the rope caused the rope to slip slightly and burn their hands, "ow."
Leader quickly grabbed the rope from Avi and started to slowly pull Whumpee back.
"Whumpee... you are about to have your shutdown. We are going to fight you until you shutdown", Leader frowned as they watched Whumpee fight the ropes, "I won't have to drag you then."
"Okay... how much longer... it feels like it's about to rip out of my body", Whumpee gasped.
"Two minutes", Leader kept backing the ATV away so they could at least get Whumpee away from the door, "I'm just getting you away from the door."
Avi watched helplessly, 'what is going on?'
Whumpee finally collapsed tiredly. Heavy sighs escaped their lips.
"Let's get you back down there", Leader pulled the ATV closer to Whumpee, "Caretaker, I think you said you were making something for them to eat."
"Ah, yes, actually. There is a chance it's done", Caretaker knelt next to Whumpee.
Whumpee looked up weakly, "I'm so tired", they whisper.
"I know Whumpee, I'm sorry it's taking so long", Caretaker gently petted Whumpee's head, "I made one of your favorites."
Whumpee leaned into the touch.
"I'll be down to feed you in a few moments", Caretaker smiled lovingly."
"Avi, why don't you come with me", Leader gently lifted Whumpee up into a bridal carry, "I'm going to carry them down. I'll be able to show you some things as I explain this situation to you. A visual representation may help you understand."
"They look heavy", Avi frowned.
"Immensely", Leader smiled, "but it's alright. I will carry them anywhere they need me to."
"Here we go", Leader gently rubbed Whumpee's head after setting them down, "I think they may be making some headway on figuring out your parts, maybe soon you will have full control again. I have a meeting later, and I will tell you what I hear."
"Thankyou Leader", Whumpee whispered before laying down, "I've been standing and pacing since after lunch yesterday. It feels good to lay down."
"Maybe you can get some sleep", Leader saw Caretaker coming, "after Caretaker gets some food in you."
Leader stood while Caretaker came into the cage.
"Let's make sure they get locked in correctly. That was almost a problem", Leader frowned.
"Yes, I'll check to make sure the door is alright and that it's locked", Caretaker nodded before shoveling a bite of food into Whumpee's excited mouth.
"So Avi, you just met Whumpee. They are part of the team, but they are in a bit of a pickle", Leader started, "I mostly wanted to show you where their cage is. We call it the cage, but it is a full room. We had to put in some additions to keep them in. That cage keeps them safe... and us."
"A few years ago now, Whumpee was on a mission with two others. Something went... uh... something went wrong... Whumpee sacrificed themself to get the team and a rescue out", Leader frowned, "it took a lot of time to get them back... they've only been home for seven months now. We've kind of built a schedule around their needs, but every day is different."
Avi frowned, "what happened to them?"
Leader sighed, "they were taken to a facility... one that hijacked their human anatomy. They have two hours a day where their body is at rest. They can rest, eat... sleep. Those who took Whumpee cut into their body, placing new parts to see how the body reacted. Once successful, they would move onto a new section. Whumpee wouldn't receive any pain relief, none, no rest. Just those two hours. The rest of it was spent in the procedure rooms or in a glass type room for holding."
Leader stopped to think, "it was treacherous what Whumpee went through. I can't even go into great detail... and unfortunately, at this very moment, other people are going through this same treatment."
"Others? There are other people.. why haven't we saved them yet?", Avi frowned, "isn't that what we are here for? Or was it just your goal to get Whumpee back."
"Whumpee was my primary objective yes", Leader nodded, "I want you to remember what you just saw. Now imagine that happening with hundreds of people. Where would we keep them all?"
"Right now, the goal is to shut down the system running Whumpee's body. They have a homing device in them, it is always on, and why they are constantly trying to escape. Whumpee is being forced against their will to go back. The facility wants their toy. The moment Whumpee steps foot outside a tracking device will trigger. They will give up their location and ours", Leader looked down in thought. "Once our specialists can shut it down, we will be able to shut down the others. I am working with the military and giving them information as we work. They are also actively searching for the location, the facility relocated after we took Whumpee."
"Why not have them show you the location. You said they have the homi...."
"It's too dangerous. I'm not putting Whumpee or my team at risk again", Leader interrupted, "it has already been mentioned to me..."
"Others are suffering Leader", Avi frowned, "others are going through the same atrocities that Whumpee suffered. And you just sit aside."
"I'm not sitting aside. I am well aware of what is going on, but I have orders to act on. We have to be prepared for any and all things. I also need the militaries help. Those orders to wait are from them."
"It's not fair to those to just wait. We have a way to stop it now", Avi argued.
"We have no way to stop it. I sent three members of the team in to attempt rescue. We got someone out, but at the cost of a team member. Whumpee is paying for a mistake I made because I thought my team was invincible", Leader studied Avi, "should I sacrifice more team members.... trade out a rescued person and have my team become an experiment. I'm amazed I didn't lose anyone while getting Whumpee out."
"I did not tell you all of this so that you can point out the injustice that you feel is being done. What happens if we rescue all of those people, again, where will they go. Who will take care of them. They will go through the same torture that Whumpee is going through now. Or we can wait for a little while longer, preparations can be made. We might be able to bring them in and shut down the internal mechanism in a matter of hours. Have multiple people ready to offer care. That is what is being planned currently."
"I can see it isn't making sense to you. How if you go think about it, if you have any questions you can ask them", Leader frowned, "I will be here until my meeting."
"All of those poor people", Avi frowned.
"They will be rescued, but we can't go to war with a squirt gun", Leader studied Avi, "you are dismissed."
"That seemed difficult", Caretaker waited for Avi to leave before coming up from behind.
"Oh, you heard that?", Leader turned.
"Yes, and though I agree with them. I wish we could get those people out. We need to wait until plans are ago."
"I don't trust them", Leader frowned, "will you do me a favor and watch them, I have the meeting. I feel like they're going to do something."
Avi watched from the doorway.
Whumpee paced back and forth in the cage, only stopping to shake the cage bars.
"You look like a caged lion, let's see if you can prove my point", Avi stepped into the room.
"Wha-what do you mean?", Whumpee looked at them as they paced back and forth.
Avi started to reach for the key.
"N-no please", Whumpee pleaded as their body went to the door instinctively.
The door was slammed close as quickly as it was opened.
Caretaker glared at Avi as they struggled to keep the door closed while Whumpee violently pulled at the bars.
Avi tried to back away, but Caretaker quickly kicked them and knocked them to the floor, "you are not going anywhere."
Whumpee's body finally turned away and started to pace again.
Caretaker quickly locked the door and double-checked the lock before turning to Avi.
"You're under arrest and will be dealt with when Leader is back from their meeting", Caretaker pulled Avi from the floor.
"Thankyou", Whumpee blubbered.
Caretaker nodded, "I'm sorry Whumpee."
Leader came into the cell that Avi was left in.
"Do you want to explain yourself?", Leader leaned against the wall, "tell me how you were going to follow Whumpee to the facility and single handedly take down everyone and save the captives. How you were going to give hundreds of captives care... three of my operatives went in there, and one of them sacrificed themself to get the others out. What do you think was going to happen to you? Whumpee would have been picked right up once that tracking device was pinged, and you... you would have met the same fate as Whumpee and the others. They could have found our hideout and taken all of us."
"I didn't...", Avi frowned.
"You didn't think. I know you want to get those people out of there, I want to as well... but I have to follow orders. I can't put my team at risk. What you did was foolish, and it will be met with termination of your employment here. Also, because of the risk you may cause us, you will be under military arrest for the foreseeable future."
"Those are orders", Leader sighed, "since you can't follow my orders, you will have no choice but to follow the military police's orders. You put yourself, Whumpee, and my team in danger. I can not allow that."
Avi watched as two military personnel came into the cell.
"They're all yours", Leader watched as Avi was arrested, "I wish this could have worked out Avi, I had high hopes for you."
Leader could hear Whumpee sobbing before they even entered the room.
Whumpee was still pacing.
"Hey Whumpee", Leader came in, "doing alright?"
"No", Whumpee whimpered, "i-it hurts. Everything hurts, I just want to stop... why can't I stop yet?"
Leader sighed, "I know, and I'm sorry. If it helps, they may he making a breakthrough soon. They may be able to start stopping some things for you."
"And if they don't", Whumpee whispered sadly, "I-I want you to kill me, please."
"I... I can't do that Whumpee", Leader frowned, "you know I can't do that. We need to figure out how to stop this so we can save the others."
"I don't care", Whumpee blubbered, "it hurts, the best way to save us is to kill us. My feet are raw from constantly walking, but I cant stop. I just want to be free. There may not be a way to stop this, and if not, I want to die."
"Ju... just please give them a little more time", Leader pleaded, "you're so strong Whumpee."
"I'm tired of being strong", Whumpee punched the wall angrily, "it's been months. No progress has been made. They haven't saved me, and they haven't saved the others."
Leader looked at Whumpee longingly.
"I'm... so... tired", Whumpee sobbed.
"I'm sorry Whumpee, I am so sorry", Leader frowned.
"They have until the end of the year", Whumpee came back to the bars, "if no progress is made... you need to terminate me, or else I will find a way to do it myself."
"Whumpee, I-", Leader frowned.
"Tell them", Whumpee growled, "tell them the science experiment is done. I will wait a little longer for you, but I won't wait for them anymore. Am I clear?"
Leader stared lovingly at their friend.
"I-I understand Whumpee", Leader nodded, "I understand."
Whumpee nodded in agreement.
"W-will you stay with me", Whumpee whimpered, "I don't want to be alone."
"Yes Whumpee, I will stay with you", Leader nodded, "I'll even pace with you."
Leader followed Whumpee's pace and they both walked back and forth together until the wee hours of the morning. They talked about everything and anything Whumpee wanted to talk about.
"You should get some rest", Whumpee sighed, "at least one of us should get sleep."
Leader yawned, but tried to stay strong.
"I'm alright", Leader stretched.
"Leader, it's alright. Go get some sleep", Whumpee smiled weakly, "Caretaker will be down here in an hour or so and will keep me company. He tries to get me to eat when I come up to the bars. I'll be alright."
Leader sighed, "I hope I will have some good news for you soon Whumpee."
Whumpee nodded, "I hope so too. Goodnight Leader."
"Goodnight Whumpee", Leader yawned again, "see you in a few hours."
Whumpee nodded and watched Leader disappear in the doorway.
"I hope so too", Whumpee glanced at a part of the wall. They had hidden a knife there inside of a hole.. just in case, "I hope so too."
