What do you listen to while writing?
Personally, I either listen to "tying asmr" or specific songs on repeat (ones that fit the mood of whatever I am writing. Rn "Angry Too" by Lola Blanc is one of my gotos)

Writers! Lend me your opinions!
I'm writing a science fantasy and I'm wondering about word replacement.
For example is there any reason not to call social media "social media" with different ones having made up names?
What about phones?
What about cars?
Apartments? Smart Tablets? Keyboards? Rockets? Holograms? Ale? Wine? Cakes? Apples, oranges, pine, roses?
I'm trying to find the balance between a well developed world and not confusing the audience or using generic words that don't convey anything concrete the reader can recognise.

Writing Question
What is the best writing advice you’ve ever received?
Wait wait wait wait. Is this an experience other people experience?
I've been writing a book for over 10 years now. The two main characters are so fleshed out that they exist in my head as basically whole humans. I care about them more than some of the people in my real daily life because I have known them longer and deeper than most people that I know.
I'm rereading my own writing and it's so good. It's bits and pieces written anywhere from age 15 until now and some of it is honestly excellent work.
As I read, I am consistently overwhelmed with all of the feelings that I feel. I feel electrified by these characters that I created and the world that they are living in and the feelings they are experiencing.
Is this an experience that other writers have? It makes it somehow easier and harder to work on anything that I write.
It's that Love Day people get so excited about, yeah.
I don't have time to write fic for it, so I'll tell you what, send me an ask about a couple I write for, any kind of ask, and I'll answer that.
Fantasy Writers
Since I am fairly new to this genre, I would like to ask the fantasy writers of tumblr how they got their worlds going. What made you decide fantasy? Did it begin with an idea, a character, a land? What made you fall in love with this idea? How did you decide the basic plot line for your work when there are so many cliches lurking about? What do you like best about your world?
Anything else you would be willing to share would be welcomed! I am not looking to copy, only curious as to other's process and designs.
Tagging specific writeblrs who I would like to hear from, but anyone is avalible to reply
