Welcome to another Saturday Shuffle, where I put my Rumbelle/ general writing playlists on shuffle, grab a song, and ramble about how it inspired a story I wrote! 🎶

This Week's Saturday Shuffle:

"Resilience" by Thomas Newman From "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" (2004)

Where It Came From: This film came out when I was in high school, and I grew up in a household that loved Jim Carrey. But oh my goodness, the music in this one gripped me immediately. I think I burned this soundtrack on three different CDs. You can count on Thomas Newman for heartfelt piano and gorgeous swells of strings. This track specifically may call to mind his music from quieter moments in the films Finding Nemo, The Shawshank Redemption, and 1917.

What I Used It For: For the More Than I Can Tell series, I assigned two songs to each of the stories: one with words and one without. This was the instrumental track I gave to Larkspur Fever, specifically the scene where Rumple quiets Belle's nightmare with her music box and combs her hair with his fingers. This track has always embodied care as well as resilience to me, and I loved it for that moment where Belle whispers "Don't stop."

Netflix Show version with Movie version (with headcanons) of Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire.

(I honestly think Movie!Klaus would slowly be seen as a brawler if book smarts fail him, and Movie!Sunny would be seen as an ‘explorer’ of sorts before finding her proper niche in culinary arts by TCC/TSS.)
