Xianzhou Natives rarely gets sick besides Mara-struck, especially if you're an adult. Unfortunately for Yanqing, he was under the age of three and still susceptible to illness. This also happened to be his first time sick and he doesn't like it at all. He's been cranky since yesterday morning when all this started, turning everything into a small battle. Usually a happy and energetic child, he's now pouty and lethargic. Though despite his clear exhaustion, he kept trying to play and explore as usual, which lead to his fever spiking.
Jing Yuan obviously can't bring a sick child to work and taking a second day off is not advisable, so he roped in Dan Heng. Somehow, that seemed to work as a charm since the boy is now in bed, silent, no tears, cuddling Dan Heng's tail. No, not his torso as most kids would, but the Vidyadhara's tail. Yanqing has wrapped his arms and legs around it, seemingly refusing to let go. Though, Dan Heng will soon be free, should he wish to, since he had actually managed to make Yanqing drink his medicine and it's clear that the boy is very close to falling asleep, nuzzling the tail he seems so obsessed with.
There were always the normal people that visited and often they brought with them their own viruses and colds. It was how they worked, they often started one thing and mutated. Dan Hang had been looking into a way to help the Mara-struck he really wanted to do something meaningful. Since he was simply their Imbibitor Lunae, he had his hands full with the arbor so often times people were delegated with jobs.
Not by him. He tended to be a work-a-Holic himself save for when his god son visited or those he held dear. The icy man could count on one hand who those people were. He had received the missive and had told the boy's father to bring him right over. There was no reason for Yangqing to be ill while with Jing Yuan at work. Also, no as much as he loved Mimi the cat was not a good babysitter for a sick child.
He allowed others to think he was "roped" into caring for the boy. Dan Heng had never taken in a child of his own. Someday maybe, but right now he was happy to spoil Yanqing. The little boy had been blurry eyes, pouting and sniffling when Jing Yuan had returned to his duty, Dan Heng had manifested his tail so he could float and read to the little boy from the book of fairy tales.
In the process he had discovered something remarkable, the little boy was fascinated by his tale, the same way a cat might be amused by a feather. She Dan Heng had waved it and nudged the little boy with it as a distraction. Next thing he knew he had a boy sized ornament on his tail. It wasn't an issue for him he had allowed Yanqing to cuddle his tail and drag it with him into the bed. Anything, to avoid tears and crying while he was sick.
A picky eater the little boy would refuse most foods, but he was also sick so something light was a must. He would try clear soup since he seemed to respond negative to colorful foods. He as fortunate his tail was long. He fixed the soup and stayed resting at the bedside, until he felt the squeeze on his tail of a toddler waking up.
“ Are you feeling any better ?” he asked him. The cool tail was likely now warm though it had likely been soothing initially--it seemed to still be.
