Inktober Day 7 - Starfish
Sonic 2 was the first video game I played, and boy did these guys give me a lot of trouble. Almost as much trouble as the rest of the badniks in the metropolis zone. They're very cute though.
Just a reminder that there are certain areas of Metropolis Zone where the Asteron badniks can actually be reached and destroyed by the player, which reveals they are indeed powered by animals like other badniks.
I've done this myself on my old Sega Genesis too, and not as Super Sonic (it was in one of the vertical shafts in Act 3, iirc). Despite their spiky appearance, Asterons are perfectly safe to spin attack, just like the Asteron ninja stars in Sonic Mania.
The messed up thing though is that the Asterons in Sonic 2 only release animals if you can destroy them before they self destruct, which would imply the animals don't survive the suicide attack.
Damn. That's pretty effed up, Eggman. lol

I need to update the textures, the rust is just appearing randomly at the moment so that’s something I need to fix. But first I think I need to remodel some pieces to reduce the poly count a bit
Xer'Roc you could say, is introvert, but when it comes to his kids, he's the biggest softie one could meet. One particular little Totodile, named Tyler, grew close to the crocoju, and over time, he adopted the little guy. However, one particular day, Tyler brought Xer'Roc a shirt that read," Best Dad Ever <3," and begging him to wear it out that day to the park, all Tyler wanted to do was just sit on the crook of Xer'Roc's shoulder and bolster of how tall he was now! But at the end of the day, just before heading home while sitting on the beach shore, all Tyler wanted to do was just draw on a piece of paper he had procured from his hat as Xer'Roc could only sit there with a small grin on his maw.
Everybody needs a ninja.
AI Prompt: Write an entry in Dr. Eggman’s diary about his badnik, Asteron.
Dear diary,
I was doing some routine checks on my badniks today when I noticed something odd about Asteron, my starfish badnik. I mean, I always knew it was a bit of an oddball, what with its tendency to spin around like a maniac and shoot lasers out of its tentacles, but this was something else entirely.
It turns out that Asteron has developed a new hobby - knitting! I caught it sitting in the corner of the room, quietly knitting what looked like a scarf out of some spare wires it had lying around.
I was initially a bit put off by this unexpected behavior from one of my badniks, but then I thought, why not? Maybe I could market a line of Eggman-branded scarves and hats made by my very own badniks! It's genius, I tell you.
Of course, I'll have to do some market research and maybe get some feedback from my trusted advisors, but I think this could be a real moneymaker. And who knows, maybe Asteron will start a trend among my other badniks. Knitting badniks - it's the future, I can feel it.
Until next time,
Dr. Eggman
