hiii i hope this doesn't sound like a weird question but I was checking your ao3 page the other day cuz i was in the mood for one of your works but i couldn't choose what to find when i noticed something. What is the difference between the Silver Symphonies series and the Astrae series?

Hi lovely! No, this doesn’t sound weird, it’s actually pretty flattering and made me grin like a loon. It’s always nice to hear someone was in the mood for your writing!

But okay - Silver Symphonies is a darker AU where Stiles is a Spark (meaning, he has magic that shapes reality according to his wants and needs), mate-bonds are real but rare, Derek is a lying liar who lies, and Peter discovers that Stiles is his mate on the lacrosse field the night of the school dance in Season One.

In more detail, it’s set in a world where Omegas aren’t outcast werewolves; instead they’re extremely highly-prized individuals who can forge and manipulate pack-bonds (think semi-psychic connections), and mind-whammy other werewolves into loving them. Don’t think romantic love; it’s more like worship. They can hold packs together that would otherwise fragment (which is why every Alpha wants an Omega mate), they can draw on their pack’s physical strength, and can basically mind-control other werewolves into doing anything the Omega wants - because that love I mentioned? Means any werewolf who gets caught in it will do anything to make the Omega happy.

They’re considered fucking terrifying. 

But they’re also really rare: Omegas can be born into werewolf bloodlines, but it’s a once-every-ten-generations-maybe kind of thing, and it takes a very particular set of qualities for a human to become an Omega instead of a Beta when they get Bitten. 

In Symphonies, Derek knew Stiles was one of those people, and spun Scott the story about Omegas = outcasts to prevent Stiles from seeking the Bite on his own. Derek’s plan was to kill the rogue Alpha terrorising Beacon Hills, then Bite Stiles himself once he, Derek, became an Alpha - because an Alpha can force a bond on a newly-made Omega that gives that Alpha a lot of control over them. So he had pretty awful plans for Stiles, basically. 

Stiles being a Spark means he’s actually immune to the Bite, so when Peter kidnaps him he has to convince Stiles to want to be a werewolf, so Stiles’ own magic will Turn him. That’s the first part of the series, which is basically pure smut. I have a few more instalments planned where Stiles-as-Omega gets revenge on Derek, and he and Peter start building their own pack. 

Astrae is set during and then post Season 3B, where in the course of trying to figure out why the Nogitsune chose to possess Stiles, Peter discovers that Stiles is something called an Astra. What an Astra actually is has not been revealed on-page yet, only that they are too rare for there to even be legends about them, and they have some kind of magic or powers that has as yet been undisclosed, but the knowledge helps Peter save Stiles from the Nogitsune. It’s a Peter/Stiles series with a ton of worldbuilding that will involve Peter trying to protect Stiles from himself and from the outside forces that will come looking when they realise there’s a living Astra. It’s not as inherently fucked-up as SS is - SS has a lot of consent issues and a much creepier Peter - but it will get dark, if I do it right. It’s also an Alison-didn’t-die AU, Maya doesn’t exist, and Kira’s getting her own arc that I’m really excited about.
