Is the interior of the earth heating up or cooling down?
It was once thought the earth was cooling down thus slowing continental drift, new findings say that continental drift is speeding up because the earth is heating up by radio active decay. There is a paradox here because continental drift may be impeded by increased heat slowing subduction on continental margins slowing down continental drift. But continental drift may be accelerating by increased heating caused by radioactive decay.
So what is it? The earth is cooling thus accelerating continental drift or the earth is heating up thus accelerating convection and accelerating continental drift?
On one hand if the earth is heating up and continental drift is accelerating.
On he other hand the earth is cooling down and continental drift should be moving slower, but there is evidence continental drift seems to be speeding up.
Simple logic by examining the problem from a different angle:
Regarding the super continent in the beginning (Pangea), if earth's interior was hotter back in the beginning why would a supercontinent have formed in he first place when it would have been broken up by excessive heat in the mantel and core?
This is a mystery to modern geologists, but not to the Young Earth Creationist because the Bible tells of a worldwide flood that changed the continental distribution of the earth's surface.
Initially when the earth was created the lower mantel and core were below the curie point allowing for a stable supper continent and robust magnetic field, God induced a burst of heat by increasing the radioactive decay constant of heavy isotopes in the lower mantel and core, causing water stored in minerals above the lower mantel to be ejected by supper volcanic activity ( Biblical quote: "breaking up the fountains of the deep").
The answer to the question "is the Earth's interior heating up or cooling down?" is simple… NEITHER is true, accelerated radioactive decay heated up the earth's mantel and core during Noah's flood leaving us with the residual heat as evidence!
The Bible is a reliable guide to science.
