Hello, which "what if" scenarios would you like to see as atla fics?
Oh! That’s interesting. Hmmmmmm……
1. What if the Water Tribe attacked? Just one of my favorite AUs for this fandom. I always like seeing what people do with it.
2. What if the benders and nonbenders were swapped (main cast only)? I’m kinda curious to see how that would play out. How would things look if Sokka was the waterbender and Katara was the nonbender or if Zuko was a nonbender or Azula or Toph?! I just want to see the possibilities with this.
3. What if Azula and Zuko got along? I’m always a sucker for some good fire sibling bonding so I’d be a sucker for a what if scenario where these two are actively getting along and genuinely friends with one another. Going along with this would be “what if the fire family got along” again I really love seeing people actually take Zuko’s words into account “when our family was happy” and use it in fics.
4. What if the Dai Li didn’t side with Azula? It always irked me that they did. Like….the Fire Nation is KNOWN for hating all other forms of bending and they call themselves superior to everyone. No red flags going up there for anyone? And it’s not even like she has been ruling and got them in line, she’s one person who gave a slightly intimidating speech and they all said “we’re gonna join her” I think it could have worked but I really would have liked to see more.
5. What if Azula was redeemed? Again, I’m always a sucker for a good Azula redemption story. I don’t care when she switches sides but whenever she does I love seeing how authors do it and how they write Azula interacting with the Gaang. I think there’s a lot that can be done with her and the various interactions she can have with the Gaang.
I think there are two what if scenarios that are more…..fanficy but I still want to add them because I think they’re fun.
6. What if Zuko raised Azula? I just said this a couple hours ago but I really am a fan of this idea. I think it’s fun to not only (1) have Zuko have to raise someone because you know what would be hilarious (2) that someone being his little sister just makes it more crazy.
7. What if Azula and Zuko grew up in the South Pole? Extra points if Kya is alive and just becomes their new mom. On the flip side of this, Kya or Hakoda being in the Fire Nation and just seeing these two kids fresh out of a sparing lesson or something with bruises and burns and they’re just like “is anyone gonna parent these kids? No? Okay. Guess I’ll do it.”
