LOVE your posts
Thank you! I love that you took the time to tell me so with typing when it’s so simple to hit the little heart button. Anything good I happen to say is only good because of God, and in spite of me. I appreciate you!

The cool and moist environment of the Attadale Gardens, Wester Ross, Scotland, is ideal for growing ferns. They are displayed in an old quarry and a sunken fern garden with a geodesic dome glasshouse for treasures that need more protection. Under the canopy of deciduous trees the Dicksonia antarctica (tree fern, soft tree fern) plants provide height and unity for this large collection of fern species.

Raising the canopy of foliage on Rhododendron can reveal their wonderful sculptural stems. In the garden of Attadale Gardens, Wester Ross, Scotland, a range of Rhododenron species and cultivars including Rhododendron auriculatum were thriving with the protection of a light woodland giving shelter from heavy frosts and protecting the flowers from strong sunlight. One plant even provided an excellent location for a sculpture of a chameleon who was placed purposefully walking along a branch.

Flowing down these steps in the lovely sunken garden at the Attadale Gardens, Wester Ross, Scotland, was Juniperus squamata 'Blue Carpet' (flaky juniper), it narrows the path before releasing you into the space. This evergreen conifer, makes a prostrate shrub with bright blue-grey, needle-like foliage providing all year round interest.
