I feel like a lot of people see someone with a debilitating *anything* and get personally offended that they're in the public light and trying to make the best out of it.
You see the same people who get pissed over people decorating their mobility devices. Or people who post videos about their vocal ticks. People who are open about schizophrenia or DID. I've even seen the same hatred and faking accusations towards the deaf and blind.
If you have any atypical condition at all, ESPECIALLY if you're under 40, people apparently think you either hole yourself up, Phantom of the Fucking Opera style, or that you're doing it for attention.
Those are the two options.
Shame I've never fit cleanly into a binary~

Sir Cavalier/More-Dread, Blackest Knight with a Heart of Gold:
What he’s from: Gamma World.
Basic Thing:
Over in the fantasy section of Dempsey Islands, Mooreshire, Sir Cavalier (sometimes called “More-Dread”, as of late) serves as the main attraction, performing in terrific jousting competitions. Now, after all these years, the mad knight is back, hunting down anyone who dares to come close to the park.
Background:
Created as the main animatronic of Mooreshire, the fantasy section of Dempsey Islands, Sir Cavalier was known for his skill at jousting and fighting, especially in the show where he roundly defeats the evil “King of Pain” in the name of King Artie.
However, over the years, he became a bit crazy and frustrated, with nobody to watch as of late (especially after the Big Mistake, when people – and I use that term loosely, due to the fact that humanity has changed, thanks to the Big Mistake – had other things to do than visit a theme park).
Nowadays, he sees enemies everywhere (except in – so far – “King Artie”, for the most part, as well as Artie’s advisor, “Myrddin”, and, of course, “Lord Wilton Dempsey”, and those designated by one of those three as “allies” or “audience”), and tends to attack anything that moves.
Deep down, though, he just wants to prove himself a “true knight”, and is quietly wondering whether “Lord Dempsey’s” orders are “right”…
How he is like me: I sometimes (lightly or worse) lash out at others, due to frustration, a bit of boredom, and the like, resulting in recreational annoyance at times. Though, to say the least, I ultimately seek to help others, and be a good guy.
Over time, I’ve improved on my behavior, and we both are somewhat dramatic.
so many people need to stop saying the simile "that's gonna be me fr" in response to someone very specific going through something for attention
Crying over abortion rights is a tell tale sign of projecting the fact that you’ve been poisoning your womb.
