Ugh, so I was just sitting around, minding my own business, thinking about the finale and how good it was to have Cat Grant back when it struck me: Cat has basically been saying ‘I love you’ to Kara over and over in all of her pep talks to both Kara and Supergirl and when will Kara notice?? *epiphany strikes* This is just like the Princess Bride and Westly saying “As you wish” when he really means ‘I love you’ and hoping Buttercup will catch on, but not really pushing or expecting anything! And now all my thoughts on this are ending in exclamations points and I’m writing them down to get it out of my head.
Here’s what I’ve got for that cast so far:
Buttercup - Kara/Supergirl
Prince Humperdink - Mon El
Inigo - James Olsen (So he can take over for Cat at the end)
Fezzik - I kind of want to keep Fezzik as Fezzik because he’s the best, but if I have to pick someone, Winn, I guess.
Miracle Max and Valerie - J’onn and M’gann
I’m not sure how to fit Alex in and there’s no way I would leave her out, but Buttercup doesn’t really have any friends in the movie. There is passing reference in the book to ‘royalty school’ that Buttercup goes through for three years. So, lets say Alex is one of Kara/Buttercup’s instructors. Maggie could be there, too. They teach Kara how to fit in at court and all ways that the system sucks and can be subverted.
Alternate villain casting: I’m really tempted to cast Rhea as Prince Humperdink instead and cast Mon El as Yellin, Humperdink’s incompetent chief of security. This would bump Lillian up to Count Rugen (with Cyborg as the Albino, maybe) and I think Siobhan would make a good Vizzini in this scenario.
All of this to say that I want Cat and Kara to have that perfect kiss (and then lots more)
“Since the invention of the kiss, there have only been five kisses that were rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind.”
[As I’ve been writing this, there’s been a niggling feeling that this au has been suggested before. I’m going to to see if this is a fic somewhere that I can just enjoy reading instead of feeling bad for not writing.]
