the start of my art series which is just entirely in appreciation of the people that designed the companion's tents in BG3.
This is the first piece, and I of course had to start with my favourite book hoarder Gale. You can learn so much from the characters looking at the little details added to their campsites, I truly adore it 💜
The Emerald Grove buzzed with activity around them, the sun at its zenith. Yet, Gale found his gaze drifting, not to the bustling throngs, but to you. The sun painted your features in a warm glow, making the thought of touching you all the more tempting.
His brown eyes, usually alight with intellectual curiosity, now held a softer, more romantic yearning. He recalled the shared moment in the Weave, the way your eyes had lingered on his lips. It had taken every ounce of willpower not to lean in then...
Now, standing here in the sunlight, he couldn't help but indulge in the fantasy once more. He pictured himself reaching out, his fingers brushing against yours before gently clasping your hand. Your hand, so warm in his; capable of such wondrous feats.
He imagined the feel of your soft skin against his lips as he brought your knuckles to his mouth. A tender kiss, a gesture of affection and perhaps... longing. Would you be surprised? Flustered? Would a blush rise to your cheeks, staining them a delicate shade of pink?
The thought alone sent a thrill through him.
He knew he shouldn't dwell on such fantasies. After all, he was a man marked for destruction, carrying a Netherese bomb in his chest. Such frivolous thoughts were a luxury he couldn't afford. But as he looked at you, radiant in the sunlight, he couldn't help but wonder...
Perhaps, just for a moment, he could allow himself to dream.
"Ah, hello there," Gale begins, voice a tad higher than usual. "Minor...mishap. A scroll, you see. Exploded. Quite spectacularly, actually." He gestures vaguely, causing a few more droplets to fly off his robes. "Don't worry, it's...mostly goblin blood."
