91. Struggling Artists
Here they were again, scraping together money just to keep living in a shitty flat. It was only $400 a month but Aqua’s music wasn’t being heard and Vanitas hadn’t sold a real painting in weeks. He groans and presses his forehead to the table. They’d already hit Terra up but he was busy with his private schooling. Ventus, last they heard of him was three weeks ago, couldn’t count on him for his share of rent.
It’s only when she finishes counting out that their total was only $246.88 that he lifts his head. Vanitas stares up at Aqua, “We’re going to get evicted.” He groans and drops his head back onto the table. Luckily, it was solid oak and didn’t knock the change back on the floor. After all, most of their money wasn’t in bills but coins. “You should just go back to your dad… We’re done for.”

23. Trapped as hostages
The place was dark, there was sound above them. Feet stepping on wooden boards, Vanitas stares up as something falls down. There was barely any light shining in through the spray painted basement window. He could see other bodies around the cement floor, they were huddled and he barely heard their whimpers. It was good to know they weren’t bagged alone, this wasn’t another hate crime against their family.
Moving on the floor, he takes a bit of a worm move with his arms and legs tied behind him. He wiggles towards the smell of his sister’s perfume, “Gemiya?” A small call of her name as he stops moving when his face is near her hair. They’d been rough with both of them, neither were ones who’d give in easy to being forced into situations. “Sis?”
