ANGSTOBER 2023 - Day 1: Honorbound

"I never really got to meet my dad. Not because he was a terrible man or anything like that. But because his status as the then-Sun God kept him from spending time with me.

At that time he was on the front lines, the best fighter from his generation, driven by his honor to Godkin and the Realm as a whole. I thought that after the Outbreak and its consequences were over, we'd get to bond as father and son.

That never happened.

It was his devotion to honor that led him to get targeted by the Plague Gods and be the first to die.

… I think I'm no different from him. I took up his position as Sun God and became captain of the Solar Guard, one made in my dad's name. And although I'm nowhere near the best fighter of my generation, I still have my duty. My own honor.

Would my little sister take the same path as me, if I were to die?"

Character A: See that ball of fire in the sky? That's the sun. It goes by many names: Apollo's lantern, day moon, old blazy. The important thing is, never to touch it.

Character B: I know what the sun is.

Character A: Yes, now you do.

What does a day in the life of a god actually look like?

It highly depends, since each god spends their day differently, and some are more active than others. So in no particular order, here’s a snippet of what each of the 19 Gods do:

Phes: When not doing pranks and whatnot, he’s actually one of the busiest deities around, acting not only as messenger of the Gods but also working in the Original World as well, and sometimes he ends up skipping lunch while delivering stuff. At least the food offerings he gets from humans make up for that.

Abaven: Now he takes the prize of “busiest god ever”; spends most of his time in his workshop brewing all sorts of medicine and testing them, and that often ends in Abaven overworking for days and nights straight (which took quite the toll on his appearance). Sometimes he falls asleep mid-work, the guy needs a break.

Tahira: Works as a teacher of sorts for the younger deities, and is responsible for overseeing the status of the Realm of Gods at times; her glass butterflies are her sentinels and they’re scattered everywhere, also acting as “alarms” in case there’s danger or an important announcement. It’s rare to see her resting, as far as one’s concerned.

Aurelianus: As part of the beast slayer group, he’s always in charge of overlooking Portals and make sure no Nether Beasts get in the Realm of Gods during the day; when not working, he’s either training or chatting with Selena. (side note: Gods don’t need armors, Aurel only wears one to look cool)

Selena: Responsible for creating the infamous Mirror Portals and the Mirror Room (which led to a lot of confusion and people getting lost on a daily basis) and overseeing the floating islands, although she finds the job so boring, she ends up skipping it to spend the day hearing gossips or hanging out with Aurel.

Ellieros: has the same job as Aurel, except it’s the night shift. When not working, he’s either taking a nap meditating or reading in a dark corner somewhere; and when not doing that, he drags Narcise out of bed when the latter oversleeps. Which is almost everyday.

How do the gods react to the fact I, a mere mortal have a crush on most of them?

(here’s the reaction of a few Gods)

Jahan: … Humans and their strange behavior towards us. Typical.

Eden: Excuse me, what’s a “crush”? Is it similar to getting crushed by a boulder? If that’s the case, then I would rather stay away!

Ziderys: (shakes head and sighs in mild amusement)

Cerys: Of course you would, I’m the Demon Queen! … Just teasing, it’s so sweet of you~

Narcise: Thank you thank you~! After all, aren’t I the Dream God? 

Elli: Well whate- wait, he’s got a “crush” on my father as well?? =_=

Arjan: I… Appreciate the sentiment, but unfortunately I can’t reciprocate it, forgive me.

Mika: Um, I appreciate that thought, buuuuuut…

*Holds Tzike tight

Mika: I’ve already someone to “crush on”, and he’s all mine! wink

Tzike: (awkward laugh) Yes, I’m the same as him.

Phes: … Don’t tell mom about this crush of yours, ‘kay buddy?

Aurel: See? Somebody admires me!

☠ Do they fear death? - for Aurelianus

Not as much as he likes to admit it (that’s to say he’ll never admit plenty of things), although death isn’t his biggest fear nor his biggest concern rignt now.

Then again, in the words of Elli, “he makes others think he’s tough, but most of his attitude is pure bluff”.
