okay so there's gonna be a little rant with this because cringe culture is something that affected me personally growing up
i got made fun of a lot by people as a kid and a teen because i went through goth, emo, scene, and hipster phases, was into shipping self inserts with canon character crushes, MLP, twilight, monsters & mythical creatures, lol so random XD humor, lots of dorky stuff people made fun of a lot. i *loved* those things and i would get so excited by anything involving them, being susceptible to other people's attitudes, i internalized a lot of their negative attitudes toward those things and stopped enjoying them and it SUCKED.
the whole concept of cringe culture is such bullshit because it's all just a bunch of assholes pretending they're somehow superior for their interests and everything they don't like is wrong and bad and anyone who likes those things is a loser. like, how petty and egocentric can you be to create this culture that ended up with people getting HARASSED because of their interests? it wasn't till the end of 2017 that i finally decided to draw oc x canon art because my best friend encouraged me and i was fucking STOKED to see how many people supported me (144 tumblr notes isn't a lot but like, still) and since then i stopped caring if people didn't like it. i love seeing scenecore coming back and people being okay with what they like, no longer being embarrassed. i love apologetically loving my interests again, so fuck cringe culture.
