Parents dynamic:

Alastor and Vox are rivals, both originally accused the other of playing a prank on them when they found out Aurey existed. They are both very reluctant parents, but eventually accept split custody over the creepy child. They barely ever communicate directly with eachother about her unless it's absolutely nessisary.

Relationship with parents:

Aurey watches her parents very closely, following them around like a mostly silent shadow, and using their lack of communication to her advantage. It didn't take long for her to realise that using them against eachother means she can profit from the chaos and lack of consistency.

Down To Earth: Main Characters (Team Feathers)

Aures Hephaestus

Aures is 18 years old, identifies as male (trans) and gay. He is (unbeknownst to him) the sovereign prince of the Beastfolk known as Harpies. He has been raised to believe he is the Shield Brother, protector and council, to the boy who believes he is the crown prince, Isaac. Like many members of the royal clan he has owl wings, specifically Blakiston’s Fisher Owl, the largest owl in the world. For this reason he is exceptionally tall and heavy even amongst his own kind. He is of Japanese and Latino, his father King Azreus has the same wings as his son, his mother Queen Rosalina had the wings of an Ornate Hawk-Eagle. Aures has vitiligo as one of the bi-products of his magic, called The Inner Metal. He carries within him a living entity of molten Damascus steel that he can shape to his will by a combination of movement and musical incantation. Frequently using it to shape his weapons of choice, the claymore and the shoulder mounted crossbow. Though Aures is much more of an artist and sculptor at heart than weaponsmith. Very early on in his story, he loses his left wing in combat protecting his surrogate younger brother Isaac, and eventually masters the ability to create a functional prosthetic from his Inner Metal. Unfortunately, there are some unique side effects to his magic, he sinks in water due to his combined density as Soul Kindred with the Blakiston Fisher Owl and his Inner Metal, and find himself especially vulnerable (weak, sluggish) to cold environments. Aures is sworn to protect prince Isaac, who is a little brother to him in all but blood, and places far too much of his self-worth around the younger boy’s wellbeing. To make matters worse, he has fallen head over tail feather in love with the fierce and spirited healer Ezekiel. Though he very badly wants those feelings reciprocated, he finds himself torn between his duty to Isaac, and his (seemingly) unrequited affection for Zeke.

Isaac Tytorus

Prince Isaac Tytorus is 14 years old, a late bloomer in flight and in magic. In fact, as a boy he was lead to believe he was incapable of magic, due to the simple fact, that he is deaf. However, he has learned that through the vibrations of music, that which he can feel rather than hear, he conjures synesthesiac Clairvoyant visions of the past, future, and present, and is able to translate those prophesies into sheet music. A Harpy of royal descent, Isaac has the wings of a Barn Owl. Like his surrogate elder brother Isaac, he inherited his father Duke Ithacan’s wings, Ithacan posing as King upon King Azreus’s request. His mother Shield Oracle Ailin, had the wings of a Harpy Eagle, Isaac appears mostly of Nordic descent. Though not as well versed in combat as Aures, Isaac has a talent for throwing knives and daggers. Isaac’s deafness presents a unique benefit, and a unique danger. The future is by far the most dangerous and unreliable of visions to conjure, hard to grasp, that is, for those who can hear. The enemy of future weaving is distraction, there are many sounds that can distract one back into the present. For Isaac, there are no sounds to distract him, the danger lies, for him, in being unable to get back out again. Worse still, the further into the future one travels, the more easily altered and unstable it becomes. A lesson Isaac will come to learn the hard way. While Aures is exceedingly protective of Isaac, the same is equally true for the reverse, it merely takes a verbose form rather than a physical one. Though they come to be friends in time, Isaac & Ezekiel’s relationship is a prickly one, as Aures has always been Isaac’s only friend, it takes him time to understand that more friends does not mean less love from Aures, but more love for them both.

Ezekiel Heliosolas

Ezekiel is the 16 year old eldest child of the Royal Healer, Maria, he identifies as genderfluid and pan. His father, Alejo, was a soldier, killed in a Vampirial siege, his magic is survived by Zeke’s little sister Melody, and partly by him. Though they have been primarily raised by their grandmother Kana. A Harpy like his companions, though not of the royal blood, of his parents are Macaw descent, however, so much interbreeding amongst the macaw families has given Ezekiel wings comparable to an Emerald Macaw (a real-world crossbreed that only happens in domesticity). While primarily a healer, Ezekiel’s magic takes a shape similar to his father’s Phoenix-like fire magic, which Zeke has dubbed The Cleansing Flame. Though a caregiver at heart, Ezekiel is a fledgling of many pursuits, fencing, dancing, and a flirtatious relationship with his fellow Paradisian, Hokula. When the Vampirials once again attacked the Sorian homeland, Ezekiel was abducted and experimented on by a mysterious Vampirial Board Member called Hexais. His magic altered, whenever he heals the wound of another, the pain is inflicted back upon him in the form of purple lightning. Every act of mercy accompanied by a strengthening whispers and an alter ego that calls itself Dante, protecting himself when Zeke refuses to, and goading Zeke into using the lightning of his pain as a weapon against his enemies. It is unclear whether this was an intentional result of the curse the Vampirials have put upon him, or what Dante’s intentions are, whatever they may be, he rejects them. Never having been permitted into the Glacial Keep before the Prince’s coming of age ball, so horrendously interrupted by the Vampirial siege, he does not know what to make of his new, royal blooded companions.
