Apple brings age verification to UK users in iOS 26.4 beta

Age checks are spreading.

This is deeply worrying and it seems this is at the OS level because some are saying alot of apps and websites are being blocked as of a few days ago.

But I do want to point out this is only limited to some users and developers who opt in to the beta test but will likely be fully rolled out to the UK aswell as Australia, Brazil, and Singapore and some US states.

Apple’s new age verification tools block underage app downloads where required by law

Apple is also updating its Declared Age Range API.

Everyone needs to call Apple out on this and force them to backtrack because they are overcomplying.

So like a lot of things this whole Mastercard/Visa fiasco has been centred around how it largely affects Americans. To the point I've seem "Why are we letting an Australian group dictate our companies" and it's frustrating.

Because as a lot of youse clearly don't know. Mastercard and Visa are the companies that Australia standard default bank DEBIT cards are issued under. We don't get a choice, the bank automatically processes our cards under Mastercard or Visa.

So it's either using Mastercard/Visa or cash. That's our two options.

(At least for all the big 4 banks, if you have a smaller bank that doesn't do this wonderful, also if you suggest American Express I'm going to lose it because as the name suggests that's just another USAmerican company)

This was an Australian group trying to censor Australian's and went for the top, and unfortunately because the United States of American has control over a lot of the western world, you guys finally experienced some knock affects of that for once.

Also in case it wasn't clear, fuck Collective Shout, and my bank card should only decline a purchase if I don't have the funds.

A lot of the injustices experienced as a disabled person become just "oh yeah no obviously" when you fully internalise that your government's goal is to kill as many disabled people as possible.

It's so elementary but so many people don't realise that, like... the NDIS or social security or whatever it's called in your country doesn't exist to improve the lives of disabled people.

If the government wanted to give out "handouts", they would just do it. There would be no NDIS, no centrelink. The main, stated goal of these offices is to make sure as few people as possible are given government money.

That's why MyGov is so user-unfriendly. That's why centrelink makes you go through so many steps with so many arbitrary deadlines. They're padding it out for as long as possible in the hope that you die first.

The ironic part? If the government just gave out "handouts" to everyone who needed them, they would save money. Because their budget to keep the Disabled People Killing Machine running gets higher every year.

When you hear about the NDIS costing millions of dollars, the reporters saying it are using some tricky bullshit. They intentionally frame it as if the money given to people to live is what's costing so much. They conveniently don't mention the fact that, just like a business, the NDIS is expected to save money every year. So more and more money is spent on the systems designed to find excuses to kick people off it, enough that it offsets the amount actually saved.

Robodebt was only a "scandal" because of the public outcry. Robodebt was centrelink's greatest achievement at serving its purpose. That's why they're trying to do it all over again.

Obviously we don't have accessible infrastructure. Obviously we don't have the rights we need to survive. Obviously we're not given the tools to succeed. Disability is inherently oppositional to capitalism. For capital to grow, we must die.

Just a reminder to all the Aussies on here, we've got 1 month of internet freedom left before the """social media ban/age verification""" laws kick in.

Make the most of it before it becomes abysmally difficult to use without needing a fake ID and a VPN just to even use a search engine or talk to your friends overseas. Honestly, i don't think any amount of complaining or data breaches that result in stolen identities and blackmail is gonna change the government's mind on this bullshit.
