This is one of those few times i see it necessary to post outside of just the auspol tag
The left, internationally is split across a long, sweeping line of differing ideologies, commitment and practices. Which often come into confrontation with one another (this being why “leftist infighting” is so prominent)
From classical marxist-leninists, to stalinists, to anarchists, to jucheists, to marsocs, to demsocs, whoever: The left has a tendency to be far more active in fighting those with ideological shifts from one another than anyone else
Ive seen it said once on this website in the most succinct way:
“The reason why so many leftist spaces suck so much is because they are usually filled with a kind of people who are more concerned with never doing anything wrong, than with doing something right”
Now this of course carries more meaning than just the topic i’m talking about today, but it applies in a similar manner
The fundamental reason, in my opinion as to why the world seems to rapid in its decline once again into fascism and authoritarianism; is because of the simple fact that the opposition to the system keeping workers down is not organised.
I can count on maybe 2 fingers the amount of credible, energetic and capable leftist movements in my home country (Australia). And despite comparatively mild ideological differences, and in the face of a constantly growing baseline of barely restricted capital; the sad fact of it is that it is extremely unlikely for these groups to begin to work with one another in a substantial manner
I see the same thing in germany, in france, in britain, in india, in japan, in china, and almost any capitalist country in the modern world.
The case needs to be made that, in the face of a constant acceleration of fascist and corporate powers; in the rapid onset of surveillance and suppression: that the obsession of the international left with each other’s differences is doing little but distract us from action, from organisation and from ambition.
I will put this in a more succinct manner.
Two months ago i attempted to join up with a self proclaimed communist organisation with a branch in my local region.
This org had seemingly everything i wanted. It was well organised, active, ambitious and well regulated. But the one thing that i saw ruin their potential, was a complete failure, and a complete disinterest in cooperation with anyone who held ideological differences with them. No matter how minor.
My final words to them, i will share with you all:
“I hope that one day, sometime soon; you can mature past this childish attitude that perfection is more important than moving in the right direction. I hope that if and when this happens, this organisation can gain the momentum necessary to make real changes in Australia. But i can’t realistically expect change right now. And i won’t be able to until you realise the simple truth:
We don’t have the luxury to be picky when our enemies are running laps around us”
Back to your regularly scheduled auspol soon.
