It's free pattern Friday! And today it's sugar glider time. These little guys are the first in what will be an ongoing series of Aussie animals.
Find the pattern here.
The first European scientists to examine a platypus body thought it was an elaborate hoax created from several other animal parts. #FACT
It’s been 10 years that I’ve been watching this guy grow up whilst being at Anais! And he knows I’ll feed him fruit everyday 😂 #waterdragon #waterdragons #lizard #australiananimals #nativespecies #easternwaterdragon #animals #pets #beardeddragon #beardeddragonsofinstagram #beardeddragons #waterdragonsofinstagram #australianwildlife #wildlife #henryshowtos #hillsdistrict #hillsshire (at Anais Restaurant - Taste Of Persia) https://www.instagram.com/p/Co_k06PJjOc/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
"Have you seen any others like my friend?" the little quoll asked the birds. The clearing filled with concerned chatter and sideways glances. They had not.

As a child, I used to regularly check out a VHS from the library called "Wild Australia" which featured archival footage of the now extinct thylacine (commonly known as the Tasmanian tiger or Tasmanian wolf). I was moved by the loneliness of a pacing striped creature with sorrowful eyes, the last known member of its kind, preserved in the zoo with no hope of its species' survival.
That image stuck with me. For my latest portfolio project, I plan to tell a story about a young thylacine who gets separated from her mother and goes on a journey to try to find her with the help of her friend, an Eastern quoll. I'm looking forward to sharing paintings, designs and characters from this project with you as it progresses!
Meet Duncan!
Dugongs have a very special place in my heart and this little guy is something I have been wanting to make for a while. His name is Duncan, he loves lazing and eating sea grass off the sea floor in Moreton Bay (QLD). Did you know these beautiful sea cows are considered vulnerable to extinction because of negative changes in habitat due to pollution leading to less sea grass growth and hunting. Dugongs also have long gestation periods(12-24 months) and only give live birth to one calf, their pregnancies are also usually 3-7 years apart so conservation efforts are severely needed in order to keep these beautiful animals alive. I always love going to see #pigthedugong I went when I was around 8 years old and absolutely loved him. Since then I have made an effort to visit the other times I’ve gone to Sydney.
