As an aroace writer I find it way easier to write smut than romance. Sex is a physical act that can be looked at through an objective lens, while it can contain emotions those are usually not the focal point of it- plus said emotions are implied through the act itself. Romance on the other hand is entirely about the emotions at play, making it subjective and difficult to wrap my head around because I’ve never experienced those emotions. I literally have no idea what falling in love is like. There’s also no straight answers as to what love is, meanwhile sex is… y’know… sex.
I have a genuine question for people who don't like/enjoy smut.....
If you don't like smut, why read it just to complain?
IMO, this is one of the reasons that romance/spice is under attack. Y'all make it seem like smut is everywhere and in every book. There are and always will be books that are strictly romance. Guess what else? There are both indie and trad authors who cater to readers who prefer romance with no smut or implied. That means the material is out there, babes. Go fucking read it!!!
I think, the worst part is most books and authors give clear warnings that YOU CHOOSE TO IGNORE! Babes, if they tell you them people gone be fuckin', just put the book down and walk away. Don't pick it up to give it a shot. Don't do a double take. Don't see if you can handle it. Just put it back on the shelf and pretend you never saw it. Okay..... How hard is that to do? Nah, you have to go on seven different social media platforms to blast the book and the author like they personally did something wrong to you. What the absolute fuck is the real problem?
Someone help me understand.....
Modern people are making comics thinking: "I'm so glad i'm making well done representation :3" @mx-maledictus
Meanwhile I'm making my manga thinking:
My hands will never be clean

I now have ideas for way too many stories that I very seriously want to write. I love being inspired but this is getting out of hand. Someone send help.
Me when I'm half way done writing a chapter but then get inspired and have to start from scratch:
I post fics before I go to bed SPECIFICALLY so I can wake up to a bunch of nice comments to start my day too. And I must admit, it does happen about 85% of the time.
But when it DOESNT happen I walk through my day with despair only fic writers can understand
There are certain tropes and things people like for their characters in fandoms that I personally will not read or write about. I just don't like them *for me*. Nothing against them; it just doesn't interest me.
But istfg I will fight for your right to read, write, and create art about it.
But I am an awkward and fragile thing and don't know how to express myself, so when you come into my asks/DMs/comments requesting said things... I probably just won't answer or will skirt around it and just thank you for your support. I never want to yuck on someone else's yum, because it's not 'yuck' to me. It's just *nothing* to me. My ND brain just doesn't want it and doesn't know how to say it because it's afraid to hurt your feelings.
Know that I love you no matter what.
Keep coming to me with requests. You never know what might pique my interests. I've certainly had my mind changed before (Omegaverse and mpreg being one I spent about 2 decades not liking and then I woke up one day and went, you know what? Yes.) It does take me about 600 business days to get them (requests I do like) done, but I am trying. If I don't write them, it's not that I don't appreciate you. It's just that I'm not interested in that particular thing. I can't force my brain, I'm so sorry, my loves. 🩷🩷🩷
