🥐𝗠𝗢𝗢𝗗𝗕𝗢𝗔𝗥𝗗 & 𝗦𝗡𝗜𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗧🥐 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 - 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 We sat at the local café in my neighborhood. Sipping on overpriced coffee and nibbling on equally expensive croissants. The sweet, buttery aroma of the croissants mixed with the rich, earthy scent of the coffee created a tantalizing symphony for our senses. “This coffee is pretty tasty. Only cost me an arm and a leg,” I said, savoring each sip. “I know, right? And these croissants? Heaven in pastry form,” Ardit said, dusting off crumbs from his lips. “Wow,” I said, “tone it down, dude.” “What?” Ardit laughed. “Heaven in pastry form,” I snickered. “Really?” “When you’re as hungry as we are, yes.” He said, “It was a long car ride.” “We still have a long journey ahead of us,” I reminded him. “We have to go to the Faerie Realm.” “I know,” Ardit said, setting down his cup. “But we have magic on our side.” He closed his eyes and held out his hand, conjuring a small, sparkling orb of light. “Show-off.” “Hey, I have to keep my skills sharp,” Ardit said, shrugging. The café buzzed with chatter and clinking of silverware, but Ardit and I sat in our own little world, the weight of our journey temporarily forgotten. As we finished the pastries and drained the last drops of our coffee, the spell of the café broke. Reality set in and the weight of our journey returned. “Ready?” I asked, standing up and shouldering my backpack. “As ready as I’ll ever be,” Ardit said, joining me.
