People who self-publish in two seconds are either:
1) geniuses
2) people who are doing it wrong or haven't thought it through
Self-publishing is a tad hard. I wouldn't say super hard, like deal with the Chernobyl disaster hard, but still it's its own kind of hard. You get several advantages, like publishing your novel without having to deal with rejection and criticism and the sneaking doubt that you might not be a good writer after all, or like keeping the revenue (which is a great advantage). In exchange you have to do everything by yourself. Everything!
Book formatting? You do that yourself. Cover design? You'd better learn to use a graphic editor. I even know about tax treaties between different countries by now. Tax treaties yes, you read that right.
Tonight I trudge on. The ebook is all set, but I want to get done with the paperback too before I "launch" everything.

L'auto-pubblicazione è un pelo difficile. Non direi super difficile, tipo come dover affrontare il disastro di Chernobyl ecco, non difficile a quel modo, ma presenta una sua certa difficoltà. Hai molti vantaggi, ad esempio pubblicare il tuo romanzo senza dover affrontare il rifiuto e il criticismo e il dubbio strisciante che tutto sommato magari non sei 'sto gran scrittore, oppure tenerti i guadagni (che è un bel vantaggio). In cambio devi fare tutto da te. Tutto!
Formattazione del libro? La fai da te. Copertina? Sarà meglio che impari a usare un editor grafico. A questo punto so perfino dei trattati fiscali fra nazioni differenti. Sì trattati fiscali, lo avete letto giusto.
Questa sera continuo ad arrancare. L'ebook è bell'e pronto, ma voglio aver finito anche con il cartaceo prima di "lanciare" tutto.
