i donât know if that makes me believe in coincidence or fate or sheer blind luck, but it definitely makes me believe in something.
and LAST post, this one is the big one.Â
what the shit, Scandal?? i mean, fuck, i didnât think Jake was going to get a happy ending but honestly who was writing season 7 and what kind of specific beef did they have against Jake Ballard/Scott Foley bc I want to know.Â
I want to know what made him any different from Huck, Quinn, CHARLIE, or Abby. They were all foot soldiers who literally did anything and everything for a job to get done ( pls Abby sold Huck to the Enemy just last season) but sure, these bitches suffer amnesia every three-episodes and we hit refresh on who the new foe is.Â
I want to know how this show has drawn some sort of moral barrier between the people who give the illegal, unethical orders and the ones who carry them out. Bc IMO, the person ORDERING you to shoot down a plane or kill the Attorney General, or kill the Presidentâs son etcetcetc is NO better than the actual fuck who did it. The one who did it is a hitman for hire, while as youâre the one with the power (both as the face of power and the actual capacity) to have your directions get executed. itâs just SO gross iâm f pissed.Â
And Rowanâs ridiculous speech at the end there, l m a o. im sorry what exactly was he even saying @ that hearing? HE SHOULD BE IN JAIL (as should CYRUS and LIV). itâs like people forget how heinous he is just bc heâs Livâs dad or bc hes had one or two mildly tame seasons over the course of time.Â
These people are ridiculous and Jake taking the fall for every single one of them is just so baffling, im still not accepting it as an ending.Â
also i know i should be used to my ships getting short circuited but what in the world, @universe?Â
i just want to know what made Olitz make it to the finish line bc we have had, not one, but THREE different times where this relationship has played out (in various contexts) and EACH time it went down in flames, like BIG time. she couldnât be with him when he was President, she couldnât handle it in the alternative universe, and she didnât want him when she took over the White House. So what the FUCK is the difference NOW? just let her find someone new! someone else! anyone else. no one. (go to jail, liv, you hardcore deserve it). i didnât think Olake was happening with how s7 was going down but i sure as shit thought olitz was permanently, permanently over, first in s5, then re-confirmed twice in end of s6.Â
It's so interesting.... In this Fitz centric episode, they talked a great deal about Olivia Pope in the news, magazine pictures, Olitz Christmas lights. Olitz came off so BIG with all the TALK and IMAGES of Olivia Pope, personally and through media. BUT, the reality is that Olivia Pope was never there. She wasn't with Fitz; they didn't even talk on the phone. Big awareness, big media, name in lights, no Olivia whatsoever.
In Jake's past centric episodes (518 and his S6 episode), no mention of the Olake name by anyone. The media knows nothing about Olake, no magazine covers, fans, etc. However, Olivia is always with him in every one of his episodes, by his side, co-starring. She is always with Jake. Oliviaâs name had to be brought up so much in Fitzâs episode, along with images and such, because without that, there would be nothing since she is not around. Olake doesnât need to constantly talk about one another to others in being apart... They donât need to be propped up by constant talk, strong media presence, or anything so that we have SOMETHING to stand on in connecting two people who simply donât engage very much at all. Jake & Olivia are always physically (not just sex, but in each otherâs presence), mentally, and emotionally interacting. No propping necessary.
It's interesting how things are projected or perceived that's not really happening. Distortion of reality. I read where someone was excited at the name Olitz being cannon, and threw in that Olakeâs name wasnât. But, it makes so much sense relative to the reality and fantasy of the two situations. Olitz needs props, Olake doesnât. Olitz would be known to the public and romanticized in their connecting with images of Olitz and a big gesture kiss. They see from the outside and donât have a hint of a clue as to what truly resides beneath the romantic presentation. They donât have a clue that Olitz truly did not establish an in-depth relationship. Mama Rhimes speaks on this:
âRhimes says Fitz was a fantasy: âShe never had to actually be a wife she never actually had to be truly emotionally available. She never actually had to do any of the icky stuff that you have to do when you are in a relationship.â
Olitz is a collection of moments, big presented moments, imagination running wild, longing in between, big gestures, and Olitzers filling in the massive gaps and blanks with hopes and perceptions. Reality never favored them, because it doesnât know them. The media and public doesnât know that Olitz spent very little personal time together, and that Olivia is not with him. She doesnât even call him. Â
We donât have to fill in any blanks and gaps for Jake & Olivia since they have established a multi-dimensional relationship through the realistic experience and learning of each other, in day-to-day life. Reality favors them, because reality knows them well. Through good and bad times. they remain: âI go where you go.â âYou are who I talk to.â âYou are not alone.â âIâM NOT GOING ANYWHERE.â
So, while Olitz is cannon in APPEARANCE through media and public acknowledgment, Jake & Olivia remaining by one anotherâs side through bright sun and dark storm is cannon in ACTION through realityâs acknowledgment. Where has Olivia been these past 100 days? With Jake, sexing or not. Truth. This episode helped to expose all of this so crisply.Â
Pistols, Protests and Papa Pope
Can we all take a moment to appreciate the award winning performance Rowan put on for Fitz in motivating him to return to D.C.? Omygod, I giggled so hard at the shameless con job he put over on Fitz. The mere theatrics of holding that pistol (which was featured far too prominently during the episode not to resurface later) breathlessly sitting on the floor, projecting paranoia at Olivia realizing he was gone. Begging with tears in his eyes for Fitz to help him save Olivia. To move her...where exactly? Back into the light or out of his way, because like everyone else (mainly) Rowan is minus a power source, and he wants his power back. It was brilliant to play on his isolation and emotions in that big house minus Olivia. Between that performance and Marcus knocking him sideways verbally and physically, he put that unearned power to some use to help the statue protester. Now he is off to D.C to unsuspectingly become a distraction for Olivia in order for Rowan to reclaim B613.
I have been rewatching scandal and i never noticed but i just noticed that there's a sound that plays when olake have some special moments themselves. do you know that sound? song? and i think it just only started playing on s4?
Yes, they have a love theme, and it started in season 4. I think it was first played in 4x06, when Olivia went to see Jake when he was locked up.Â
