wait so why did aang spend that whole movie looking for a way to give ppl airbending when legend of korra shows us that he can do that with energybending
ive tried to think abt this from every angle. "maybe it only works to reverse amons chi-blocking and cant give bending to a nonbender" the lion turtles used it to give bending to nonbenders and aang learned it from the lion turtles. "he doesnt actually give korra airbending bc she already has it in this scene, so maybe he can only grant the other 3 elements, like maybe the fire lion turtle only gives control over firebending and he found the other 2 offscreen but could never find the air one" that fits with the wan flashbacks and why he had to visit all of the turtles, and it mightve worked before the movie came out, but then they showed us 3 ancient lion turtle corpses. "at the end of the movie he learns to let his people go, so maybe he just didnt want to make new airbenders, and didnt know how to before that point" i guess thats the only even remotely possible explanation, but everything in lok indicates that he continued to want to rebuild his culture and create new airbenders for the rest of his life. and it also doesnt explain why korra didnt do it when we see her use energybending to give lin her earthbending back, and she definitely wants there to be more airbenders
its even implied that sonam made the staff using energybending learned from the lion turtles. why didnt aang see this and go "oh wait, i already know energybending, i dont even need this thing"
