Pandora in Bloom Prompts: 6. "I will always protect you" and 37. Baby Pa’li/Ikran
Word count: 990
Pairing: Tarsem x fem!reader
Description: Tarsem wakes you up to share some exciting news.
Content Warnings: reader has hair long enough to tie up, talk of potential pregnancy/a baby, FLUFF
Author's note: Based on this request. Also, fun fact, Va'ru was Tarsem's original name from the Awow script, but I liked it so I named his ikran that!
Na’vi Words used: Yawne - beloved Paskalin - sweet berry, term of affection
“Yawne,” Tarsem murmured, waking you from your slumber as he gently rocked the hammock you shared with him so that you would be stirred.
You groaned, rolling over and trying your best to stay in the soft embrace of sleep. “You will want to see this,” he told you with a gentle grin. He caressed your face, knowing his mate did not wake easily, even when you did get a full night of rest.
You blinked and rubbed at your eyes as you tried to jostle your subconscious into motion. “What- What is it?” you asked blearily. "Is something wrong?"
“No, it is good. Zetey, she has had her baby,” he explained.
At the mention of your ikran, you sat up, looking at him in question. When he chuckled and nodded that you had indeed heard him correctly, you sucked in a breath. Your legs swung over the hammock with little grace as you hurried to get ready to see her.
“How is the baby? Is it a girl or a boy?” you asked, hurrying to throw your wild hair up into a knot that could be tied off with a leather strip.
He smiled, the flash of it igniting something smug and happy in your chest that he was your mate. “A healthy boy,” he assured you and your shoulders relaxed a little at the word healthy. He grabbed a woven traveling cloak and wrapped it around your shoulders, making sure you would be warm on the way up to the Ikran Rookery where all ikrans nested before and after birth.
“What hour is it?” you asked, glancing outside to see that it was dark.
“It is early morning, the village still has several hours of sleep left,” he answered.
He reached his arm out, guiding you to the door as you grabbed the ends of the cloak, pulling it tighter as you both hurried to Tarsem’s ikran who was perched on the ground below the tree canopy.
“Hello, Va’ru,” you cooed to the yellow and blue creature that bumped your hand affectionately as you passed.
Tarsem mounted and held out a hand to you, helping you throw your leg over the ikran’s back and making sure you were secure behind him. One of his hands gripped the leather handle between Va’ru’s kurus, and the other reached behind him to grip your thigh, anchoring you to his side.
You took off into the early morning sky. The world was still dark and glittering stars winked above you as Va’ru carried you through the air. The forest slept down below as Tarsem steered you towards the rookery, up high into the thundering mountains.
“How did you find out that she had her baby?” you asked, yelling into the wind as you neared your destination.
He glanced over his shoulder at you, before facing forward again and saying, “I went to check on her on my way home from patrol. I knew her time was close, so I thought I would keep an eye out. I flew above earlier and I noticed the newcomer.”
“Thank you, Tarsem,” you said, grateful for all he did for you. You pressed a kiss to his shoulder, resting your chin on the same spot as the rookery came into view.
“Of course, she is family,” he said and you smiled at the sentiment, knowing he meant it.
Tarsem veered to the side and pointed Va’ru towards a nest high on a floating mountain where sticks, plants, and other natural debris now cushioned the bodies of 2 ikran. You beamed when you saw Zetey’s beautiful colors were now shared with a small baby at her side.
You immediately dismounted when Va’ru landed, running up to your ikran and reaching out to smooth a hand over her neck as she chirped in greeting.
“Hey, mama,” you said, “you did so well. He is a very handsome boy,” you beamed, staring down at his thin wings and miniscule legs in awe. Zetey nuzzled into your hip as Tarsem approached the nest, stopping behind you and watching with so much love as you kneeled down beside Zetey to cautiously ghost a hand over the baby’s soft skin.
You gasped as the tiny, leathery ikran uncurled from its mother's side, lifting its head and looking up at you.
“Welcome to our family, little one,” you murmured as the infant yawned and sniffed your hand that drifted over its head and neck. “We will always protect you, you will always be loved,” you added with a smile before the baby reared his head back and sneezed cutely.
“Bless you,” Tarsem noted politely as he crouched down beside you and placed a hand on your shoulder.
“Is he not adorable?” you asked, smiling over at him.
“Very cute. He will make a strong hunter and a fearsome predator one day,” he agreed. A pause permeated the air between you before he asked, “Do you ever want one?” and your forehead creased in confusion.
“A baby ikran?” you asked and he shook his head and smiled goodnaturedly.
“A baby Na’vi,” he clarified and you let out a giggle over your misunderstanding. The disrupted sleep was evidently messing with your processing skills.
“Right! Yes, one day,” you answered. Zetey’s baby made a sound of discontent when you removed your hand, so you quickly resumed petting him.
“Interesting,” he nodded, fighting back a small smile.
“Do you?” you asked in return, looking back at him curiously.
“Yes, one day,” he replied. “You will be a good mother,” he remarked fondly.
Your cheeks turned purple at the compliment, “Thank you, Paskalin. You will be a good father,” you replied.
“Then perhaps we will not mess our children up too terribly,” he said, grinning when the baby moved to nuzzle his hand as it stretched its wings.
“Only moderately,” you teased and he laughed, a sweet sound that echoed over the distant horizon and right into your rapidly beating heart.

This was not in Grace’s part of her job. She had taken you under her wing, the first human born on Pandora, your parents were a pilot and a fighter, unfortunately meeting their end on different missions, experiencing these at the early age of 5.
Despite Grace’s attitude, she cared for you, watching over you like you were her own, she does not even owe you anything, until she saw how much you were fascinated with the world, the nature of Pandora like her.
You did not know how, but she always managed to take you on her trips out into the forest the more years passed, and after how much you proved you could handle yourself out there.
Which was not mostly a problem, you’d stick close to her enough she described you like a leech on her leg.
You came across the school, you’ve heard all about it. Grace teaching them English in the hopes to make communications easier between the RDA and the natives… but unfortunately it didn’t work that way.
Then both Jake and Norm arrived, things started to progress from there, Jake’s avatar finding his way into the Omatikaya, learning their ways. You managed to get close to the guy, Norm and Jake acting like your older brothers, though they were surprised to see a teen like you here on Pandora.
You were always the one to quiz Jake about the Omatikaya when he’d show off having a date with the chief’s daughter Neytiri, you perched on one of the counters when he wasn’t stuck in his link unit.
“And you also must learn to speak Na’vi well.” You taunt in Na’vi towards Jake, seeing his face scrunch in thought figuring out what you just said.
“I do… speak well.” Jake manages to utter back to you in Na’vi earning your laughter as Grace and Norm walked in the break room.
“Damn Grace, you sure this kid’s not yours? Kid’s got your intellect.” Jake huffs, finishing his snack while Grace glanced at you, proudly, before she eyes Jake.
“What, marine? Don’t tell me the kid can speak better Na’vi than the one with the avatar.” Grace hums, pouring herself a mug of coffee. “Oh great, yeah, sure… hey, I’m learning!” Jake replied, not happy he was being ganged upon by the two of you but there was a grin on his face.
And so, Jake works his way to earn the trust of the clan, and that is what mattered to Grace. How she longed to see the children again, and those who she taught back then were all grown up now.
You were reading one of Grace’s reviews on her samples one day, eyes focused on the screen, reading how the mycelium could very well be in all parts of Pandora, through the biggest tree to the tiniest plant.
Footsteps take you out of your trance. “Pack up kid, we’re going somewhere.” Grace enters, picking out some of her equipment and stuffing it into her bag. You don’t budge right away, slumping in your seat.
“Going where?”
Grace’s back was turned towards you, and she knew how all you talked about back then was getting the chance to visit Home Tree like Grace did before, and now… an opportunity presented itself.
“Kelutral.” Grace casually responds and you sat up straighter. “No way?” Grace hears the gasp in your tone, and she turns to face you, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Yes way.”
You swore you hadn’t moved that fast in your life, rushing to your room to pack whatever you needed, which wasn’t much, just some spare batteries for your exopack and a few change of clothes.
═════════════════════
“Settle down kid, you’re gonna cause a turbulence at this point.” Trudy comments yet doesn’t lack a hint of affection as you couldn’t keep yourself from swinging in the chopper, holding onto the handle as you peered out, almost bouncing on your feet as you did the same on the other opening, trying to get every glimpse of Pandora, not having made it this far.
The news of Jake having talked to the people to letting Grace back in, maybe even you, was all you could think of.
“Hey, hey, sit still, I don’t want you falling off now before we meet the people.” Grace speaks, already in her avatar form, her big blue hand holding onto your side to maneuver you to sit down in one of the vacant seats, your eyes looking up at her with a sheepish look.
You gesture wildly. “I just- I can’t believe it!” You say, not even restraining the joyfulness coursing within you right now but keeping yourself finally planted on the seat.
Looking out again, all you could think about was Home Tree.
═════════════════════
Okay, you were excited when Jake, in his avatar, meets you and Grace at their meeting point.
“Wow Jake, there’s no way that’s you?” You remark, gesturing to him who is decked in traditional gear of the Na’vi, cummerbund around his waist. His avatar towers over you so much that he had to kneel down, tilting his head at you.
“That’s right kid, it’s me, believe me now?” He responds, curling a gentle arm around you, knuckles rubbing against your head playfully as you complain and try to shove him away, which does not even budge him.
“Oh, get off!” You whine, Jake laughing as he lets go, ruffling your hair for the last time as he stands up fully, now at Grace’s level. “They’re waiting.” Jake only says to which Grace nods.
You look up at them, especially Grace. You know how much it means to her being allowed back in this place ever since the school shut down, you reach for her arm, making Grace look down on you. “It’s gonna be okay.” You say to which Grace needed at the moment.
And so, Jake leads you towards the direction of Home Tree.
═════════════════════
You had not predicted how big Home Tree was. When Jake enters, followed by Grace and you, who decided to shield yourself behind Grace, you see other Na’vi minding their business look up and point you out, curious gazes followed by whispers, all eyes on the human kid.
You keep close as Grace kneels to meet the children rushing towards her, who were taller than you, already engaged in conversation, their laughter filling as they were happy to see Grace, even the older ones she taught had made their way over to you. You were nervous, you didn’t know what for… but you offer your greetings to those eyeing you.
About to back yourself off to let the other children surround Grace, you accidentally back into someone, turning around, you blink wide as the boy, another Na’vi in front of you looks down at you, his eyes curious but soft, welcoming.
“Hello…” You offer, not knowing what came over you to strike up a conversation when you have not even talked to a Na’vi before. The boy squints slightly before you see him relax hearing you speak their language. “Hi.” He replies. “I am Tarsem.” He introduced himself, making you smile and introduce yourself back.
Surprisingly, your nervousness begins to ebb away when Tarsem eagerly wanted to talk to you, having not seen a human being up close, and close to his age. He didn’t make you feel like some kind of ornament he could only inspect and discard, no, he wanted to know about you.
And you wanted to know about him.
═════════════════════
It didn’t take long for the two of you to become close, for the people to start trusting Grace and Jake, even you. You were happy when Grace decided to move and take you with her, Jake, Norm, and Trudy to relocate on site 26 up in the Hallelujah Mountains.
And you didn’t even know how you managed to shut up the moment you flew by the magnificent sight.
You swore the moment you had settled in site 26, the more time you spent outside at Home Tree, learning about the people up close and personal, and them being nothing but welcoming, indulging you in your curiosity.
You and Tarsem had formed this friendship, it was mostly him who went with you to wherever you wanted to go, or to see in the village. Obviously, he could not help but be protective of you, seeing just how smaller you were around everybody else, and knowing some of the others were still wary of you. You were still a sky person after all. You didn’t have an avatar like Grace, Jake, and Norm.
You were also just a teenager.
One night Grace allows you to stay in the village, and you find yourself somewhere quiet with Tarsem, he was starting to grow much taller now, more mature, responsible. But his care towards you did not waver.
You were looking forward, just watching the village alive with torches and the people moving about in their own ways, conversing, laughing, and even chasing each other around.
It was a sight Tarsem was used to, so he slowly let his gaze wander towards you, the occasional hiss of your exopack as you breathed the current noise between you and him. He learned from you that humans had to wear those so they could live here on Pandora, that it filters the air for you to be able to breathe… just another one of those things that he learned to look out for you.
He didn’t know why he was so… taken with you. “Your mask,” he began, nodding towards it when you look at him. “You brought a spare?” He asked, he always does when you stay out more than you can here in the village.
“Always.” You would say grinning, pulling it out of your sling bag for proof, to which Tarsem chuckles at. “You know, I just wish I didn’t need this sometimes.” You suddenly start.
“I mean… I wish I had an avatar you know? Like Jake… Grace…” You mutter out, eyes finding Jake in the crowd with Neytiri trying to get him to drink and dance with the others.
Tarsem raised a brow at this, not entirely having grasped the concept of an avatar, but he doesn’t speak yet.
“I think it would make thing so much easier… pff you know what they told me? They can’t put babies in cryo… like send me back to earth.” You explain, Tarsem nodding along.
“But maybe it’s a good thing… I’m still here, aren’t I? Just not tall… and blue.” You huff. Tarsem finally spoke.
“You have learned to move like one of the people, you speak like one of the people and you care… that is enough.” Tarsem says, nudging your side to which you nudge him back with a chuckle.
His words ring, your eyes locking, a silent understanding passing between you… and your exopack just had to beep.
═════════════════════
A lot has happened since then, the calm before the absolute storm that was the war, the battle of Hallelujah Mountains, kickstarted by the RDA, and you found out along the way that Jake was doing some under the table deal with Quaritch.
You couldn’t believe he had accepted it… that he was confident he could convince the clan to move out before the RDA decimated Home Tree, until he fell in love with Neytiri. The destruction of Home Tree happened, which caused many deaths of the people- Tarsem made it out alive thankfully, but that also left a mark on your relationship.
Jake’s betrayal of Quaritch led all of you to being captured and jailed back in Hell’s Gate, not before Trudy successfully freed all of you, but in your escape and Quaritch finding out, it had ended in Grace taking the bullet for you.
Unfortunately, there was nothing you could’ve done, you watched over her until Jake had bonded with Toruk, proving where his loyalty lies before he asked the clan’s help to try and save whatever’s left of Grace in her avatar.
The ceremony ends unsuccessful, you stay by Grace’s side as she took her final breaths, hand atop yours and muttering that she was with Eywa now, that you shouldn’t worry… you fell back into Tarsem’s arms, inconsolable as you cried your heart out and he held you throughout, the others in the clan sharing the sorrow as Jake bows his head. Grace was gone.
═════════════════════
Jake had rounded the clans, and the Battle of Hallelujah Mountains happened, you hid with the elderly, the women, and children in the clan but you tried to convince Tarsem not to fight, too worried that he might not come back…
“I must fight. This is the way.” Tarsem says, looking down at you while you work on painting his warpaint on him, though you were reluctant… he trusted you the most to let you do this. You did not even think about him possibly losing his life to your kind- you could not… it only makes you think about Grace.
You were too distracted painting him, or just wanted to look distracted to keep yourself from looking at him. Your small fingers trace along his cheeks, down his arms and his chest. His hand comes to hold your wrist, halting you gently.
“Talk to me.” He speaks. You finally breathe. Eyes meeting his. “I’m scared.” You simply say.
“I already lost Grace, and I can’t lose anyone else…” Your voice cracks, blinking away the tears that prick your eyes, not being able to wipe them just yet because of your mask, taking a deep breath and looking away, knowing how much this war would cost.
“You will not.” Tarsem squeezes your arm before his hand moved to yours, curling your much smaller hand in his. “I will stay alive.”
Those were his parting words when the horns blared in the village. It was time, Tarsem gives you one last look before he grabs his bow and arrows and his knife.
It felt like an eternity, waiting for the outcome of the war, to see if any of the people you loved made it out alive.
The horns blared once more when you were making sure everyone was okay and the children were calm. The others chirp upon the sight of the other warriors returning, announcing the battle has been won by Eywa and Toruk Makto.
You did not leap for joy yet, you watch as the warriors came in and found their families, others crying for joy at their son or their daughter making it out alive from the war.
Your heart was beating fast, as the Na’vi move all around you in reunion.
Glancing around, you hope you’d find him. Tarsem.
“What did I say?” Your head whips. There he was, who mustered a grin on his face despite the exhausted expression, a few scratches on him. You rush and tackle him in an embrace, making him lean down enough so his arms can wrap around you.
“You are shaking.” He comments with amusement.
“Shut up.”
Tarsem laughs but he lets out a sigh, closing his eyes and nuzzling his cheek against your head, he stayed alive, like he promised.
═════════════════════
And so, the RDA was banished by Jake back to earth, those who he trusted and truly cared for Pandora were made to stay. Finally, there was peace.
The years evolve with the Omatikaya now with humans living amongst them, learning to work and live with each other.
You and Tarsem grew up, now young adults, you help around with the other remaining avatars along with Max and Norm and in the lab, and you also offer your teachings to the children of the Omatikaya, teaching them is what Grace would have done, what she would have wanted.
Tarsem becomes one of Jake’s trusted allies now that Jake was the olo’eyktan, Tarsem his right hand in hunting parties and in ceremonies.
There were many things that happened since then, with Neytiri being pregnant with her first child with Jake, everyone was overjoyed. You watched Jake become a father, with him even meaning to make you a godparent to his kids which meant a lot.
But at the end of the day, it was always either you or Tarsem that seeks the other out. Whether it be you in your lab or Tarsem in his marui.
Tonight, you stayed a little longer in the lab, stuck on reviewing the other statuses of the avatars and studying the last logs of the others when the door hisses and opens, in steps Tarsem.
“Hey.” He greets, ducking down the low ceiling before he approaches you. “Figured you’d be here.” He murmurs, crouching next to where you stood.
“Hey.” Greeting him back, you place the pad down on the table, facing him, hand reaching out and toying with one of his braids.
“You’re quiet.” He notes, tilting his head, the beads in his braids making a satisfying clinking noise, since usually when he would come, you’d be raving about some science or tech stuff that you’d eagerly present to him. But tonight was different.
“No, it’s nothing…” You shrug, shake your head. Tarsem takes a moment to breathe into his mask due to the change in oxygen before he lets it hang around his neck.
“You do not fool me.” The young warrior says, yellow eyes looking into yours. You sigh, pulling back and turning around, starting to work again which Tarsem’s brows pull together at.
“I just… I don’t know… you should be happy.” You don’t know where your words were coming from, but it stemmed from the thoughts that haunted you every night when you lay awake in your own bed.
“I am happy?” Tarsem replied confused, wondering where this talk was coming from when the two of you had long been strong.
Letting go of a breath you didn’t realize you’d been holding, you brace yourself on the counter, eyes lingering on the avatar monitors on the large screen.
Tarsem follows your gaze and it clicks. “You should be happy with someone else, Tarsem, you’re not gonna find it with me because I’m just… me.” You say, the weight of it is heavy on you. He was a fine man, good, responsible, and caring. Any person from the clan would be proud to have him as a mate. That could not be you.
Tarsem’s eyes were on the screen, before he crouches near you again, his large palm landing on your back. “You do not think I can be happy with you because you are human?” He says low and it sends a shiver down your spine to hear him say so.
You don’t speak but nod.
Tarsem feels a frown tug on his lips before his hand carefully turns you to face him. You could not meet his gaze so his hand cups your cheek, so gentle, just begging for you to look at him.
“But I am happy because you are you.” He begins. “It does not matter to me that you are human.”
Your heart jolts at that, finally looking at him as your face held uncertainty. “But I cannot mate with you.” You finally say. “I cannot form that bond with you, I won’t be able to be one with you-“ You swallow the lump that has formed in your throat.
Tarsem’s thumb brushes the tear that escaped your eyes. “It does not matter to me; you are still here… you are stuck with me for all I care.” He says, offering a small chuckle to which you shake your head, rolling your eyes but the emotions were still there.
“I choose you.” He says quietly like a secret he had kept all this time. “After the war, from the moments we had spent up in those trees, you teaching me anything you thought of… even now we are older… I would still choose you.” His head now bows shyly, his tail curled low by him, ears lowering. He was declaring himself to you.
“Tarsem…” You breathe, everything suddenly feeling a little clearer now. How did you even think of letting him go? He was right here, happy, with you and no one else. Your difference did not matter.
Your hands reach for his face now, making him look up, golden gaze flickering between your lips and your eyes. “I choose you too.”
All the weight you had been carrying, the thoughts that you and Tarsem were not meant for each other was now gone.
He was kissing you before you knew it, making you stagger back from the sudden movement, but his hold kept you upright, pulling you towards him, hands on your sides, your hands placing themselves on his shoulders as you close your eyes.
He kissed you like you were Pandora’s air itself, and he was lacking air.
Pulling back, you press your foreheads together and you hear Tarsem sigh, nuzzling his forehead against you, his eyes still closed for fear that if he opens them, it would all be some kind of dream.
It did not matter, it did not matter that you were human and that he was Na’vi, what was important was this, this connection built upon years of growing up together.
Years of connection that slowly brought love like it was bound to happen, and it did.
Chapter four her mothers daughter
A/n: starts when y/n is 9, Neteyam is 7, Kiri is 6, and Lo’ak is 5 at the beginning of this chapter then when Tuk is born they are 10, 8, 7 and 6
Y/n was 9 when she first noticed it.
They were walking back from gathering herbs, Neytiri’s basket full, Y/n’s half‑full but proudly carried, when her mother paused. Just a small pause, barely a second, but enough for Y/n to see the way her chest rose a little too sharply, the way her shoulders tightened as she breathed.
Y/n slowed her steps, watching her mother more closely. Neytiri’s movements were still graceful, still sure, but… slower. Softer. As if each breath took more effort than it should.
“Sa’nu?” Y/n asked quietly, her voice small but steady. “Are you okay?”
Neytiri blinked, surprised. She hadn’t expected her daughter to notice. She hadn’t expected anyone to notice, she had been hiding it well, or so she thought. The slight shortness of breath. The heaviness in her limbs. The way her heart seemed to race after even simple tasks.
“I am fine, ma’ite,” Neytiri said gently, offering a smile. But it didn’t reach her eyes.
Y/n didn’t look convinced. She stepped closer, her brows knitting together in that way that made her look far older than seven. “You’re breathing funny,” she said softly. “Slower. And you stopped walking.”
Neytiri exhaled, a little too quickly, a little too shallow.
She crouched down so she was eye‑level with her daughter. “You see too much,” she murmured, brushing a braid behind Y/n’s ear. “Even things I try to hide.”
Y/n’s tail curled anxiously. “Is it bad?”
“No,” Neytiri said, but the hesitation was there, thin as a thread. “Just tired. That is all.”
Y/n studied her mother’s face, her eyes full of worry far too big for her small body. She reached out and placed her hand over Neytiri’s chest, right where her heart beat fast beneath her skin.
“Maybe… maybe you should rest,” she whispered.
Neytiri’s breath caught, not from exhaustion this time, but from the tenderness of it. Her daughter, the child who once clung to her for comfort, was now offering comfort back.
She pulled Y/n into her arms, holding her close. “I will rest,” she promised. “For you.”
Y/n nodded against her shoulder, small arms wrapping around her neck, before pulling away and grabbing her mamas spare hand, pulling her to rest beneath the shade of a wide‑leafed tree.
Neytiri leaning back against the trunk. Y/n sat beside her, legs crossed, humming softly as she sorted the herbs in her basket.
For a moment, everything was peaceful.
Then Y/n looked up at her mother with those wide, knowing eyes, the ones that always seemed to see more than they should.
“Sa’nu,” she said softly, “do you know the name of the new baby?”
Neytiri’s head snapped up.
Her heart stumbled in her chest.
She hadn’t told anyone yet. Not even Jake. She had barely admitted it to herself, the subtle changes in her body, the heaviness in her limbs, the way her breath caught too easily. She had been trying to hide it, to understand it, to be sure.
But her daughter… her daughter knew.
“I do not,” Neytiri said carefully, voice steady despite the shock tightening her throat. “Do you?”
Y/n nodded, as if this were the most natural thing in the world. “Mm‑hm. I heard you say it in one of my dreams.”
Neytiri felt the world tilt.
Her breath caught, not from exhaustion this time, but from something deeper, something ancient. She reached out and gently cupped Y/n’s cheek, searching her daughter’s face.
“What name did you hear, ma’ite?” she asked, voice barely above a whisper.
Y/n leaned into her touch, eyes soft, unafraid. “Tuktirey, but we call her Tuk for short, she’ll be beautiful mama. You were holding her. She was small… and she was crying.”
Neytiri swallowed hard, her pulse quickening.
Her daughter’s visions had always been strange, unsettling, powerful, but this… this was different. This was personal. This was hers.
And Y/n, only seven, spoke of it with the calm certainty of someone who had already walked through the future and returned with pieces of it in her hands.
Neytiri pulled her close, pressing her forehead to Y/n’s. “Eywa speaks to you in ways I do not yet understand,” she murmured. “But I am listening.”
Y/n wrapped her arms around her mother’s neck, small and warm and steady.
“I know,” she whispered. “That’s why she tells me things.”
Y/n was ten when everything changed again.
Neytiri’s labour began just a day after Neteyam’s seventh birthday, and the little boy was furious about it. He stomped around the mauri muttering about how “the baby stole my birthday week,” tail flicking in pure betrayal. Lo’ak found this hilarious. Kiri, perched beside Y/n, simply blinked at him with her usual calm curiosity.
But when Neytiri’s pains grew sharper, everything shifted.
Mo’at ushered the children out with a firm gesture, and Jake stayed at Neytiri’s side. With no one else available, Y/n gathered her siblings, Neteyam sulking, Lo’ak bouncing with excitement, and Kiri clutching Y/n’s hand and led them away from the mauri.
She felt the weight of it.
The responsibility.
The trust.
For nearly a whole day, she kept them busy.
She helped Neteyam carve shapes into soft bark to distract him from his birthday misery.
She chased Lo’ak through the clearing until he collapsed in the grass.
She braided Kiri’s hair, humming softly as the girl leaned against her shoulder.
Kiri watched her with wide, thoughtful eyes. “Mama will be okay,” she said quietly, as if sensing Y/n’s worry.
Y/n nodded, though her stomach twisted with nerves.
By the time the sun dipped low, all four children were exhausted , y/n most of all.
Then Jake appeared at the edge of the clearing, breathless and glowing with pride.
“She’s here,” he announced, voice warm and full. “Little Tuktirey has made her entrance.”
Neteyam’s sulk vanished instantly. Lo’ak whooped. Kiri squeezed Y/n’s hand.
But Y/n stood slowly, heart fluttering with something deeper. Something she had felt in dreams long before this day.
When they entered the mauri, the boys rushed toward Mo’at, who was cleaning the tiny newborn. Kiri followed, quiet and curious.
But Y/n didn’t look at the baby.
She went straight to her mother.
Neytiri lay propped on soft blankets, hair damp with sweat, face glowing with exhaustion and joy. Y/n knelt beside her, eyes wide with worry.
“Are you okay, sa’nu?” she whispered.
Neytiri’s smile softened, warm and full. She reached out and cupped her daughter’s cheek.
“I’m okay, ma evi,” she murmured, voice tired but overflowing with love. “Eywa has blessed us again.”
Only then did Y/n turn her head, slowly, cautiously, to look at the tiny bundle in Mo’at’s arms. Tuktirey blinked up at the world with unfocused eyes, small and perfect.
Kiri leaned against Y/n’s side, whispering, “She’s pretty.”
Neteyam puffed his chest. “She better not steal my birthday next year.”
Lo’ak giggled.
“Well, see, She will have her birthday the same time every year” Jake corrected Neteyam, with a laugh.
Y/n felt something else entirely.
A quiet recognition.
A soft ache of déjà vu.
The echo of a dream she’d had long before this moment.
She had seen this child before.
Held her in visions.
Heard her name whispered in the dark.
And now she was here.
Real.
Alive.
Family.
Y/n adored Tuk from the moment she saw her.
She thought she was the cutest baby Eywa had ever made, even cuter than Lo’ak, which she announced loudly and repeatedly, much to Lo’ak’s dramatic horror. Tuk’s tiny fingers, her soft coos, the way her ears twitched when she dreamed… Y/n loved all of it.
And she didn’t mind sharing Neytiri with her.
Not even a little.
If Neytiri wasn’t holding Tuk, Y/n was.
If Tuk wasn’t in her mother’s arms, she was curled against Y/n’s chest, tiny head tucked beneath her sister’s chin.
The baby adored her for it.
Tuk was calmest in Y/n’s arms, always.
She would fuss and squirm with Jake, wiggle impatiently with Mo’at, and even cry with Neteyam or Lo’ak if they held her too long. But the moment Y/n took her, Tuk melted into stillness, eyelids drooping, breath softening.
Neytiri watched them with a quiet, swelling pride.
Her eldest daughter, the one who once clung to her with trembling hands, the one who woke screaming from visions she didn’t understand, now held her baby sister with a steadiness that felt ancient. Natural. Right.
Sometimes Y/n would sit outside the mauri with Tuk sleeping on her chest, humming softly as she braided little strands of her own hair. Kiri would sit beside her, leaning against her shoulder, watching the baby with wide, curious eyes.
“She likes you best,” Kiri would say.
Y/n would smile, brushing a gentle finger over Tuk’s cheek. “I think she remembers my voice” she’d whisper. “From before she came.”
Kiri never questioned it.
She just nodded, because with Y/n… things like that always felt true.
And Neytiri, watching from the doorway, felt her heart swell with love for all of them, her fierce eldest, her curious daughter, her wild boys, and the tiny new life cradled safely in Y/n’s arms.
Tuk was loved.
Y/n made sure of it.
As Y/n grew older, she began to drift, not away from her mother, but outward, expanding into the world with a confidence Neytiri had always known she would find.
At ten years old, she was no longer the little girl clinging to Neytiri’s side. She still sought her mother’s warmth, still curled into her lap on quiet evenings, but during the day she moved with purpose. Training. Learning. Becoming.
She had started preparing for her Iknimaya far earlier than most.
Too early, some whispered.
But Mo’at only smiled, and Neytiri said nothing, because she saw the truth.
Y/n was ready.
She was the youngest in her training group, surrounded by children two, sometimes three years older. Yet she surpassed them with ease. Her balance was steady. Her steps were silent. Her aim was frighteningly good.
One afternoon, after a long session of archery practice, the head hunter approached Jake and Neytiri with a grin stretching across his face.
“Her aim is great,” he said, nodding toward Y/n as she retrieved her arrows. “If she were not destined to be Tsahik, I would say she is on her way to becoming a fine head hunter.”
Jake’s chest swelled with pride. He tried to hide it , failed miserably. “That’s my girl,” he muttered, unable to stop smiling.
But neytiri was glowing.
Before Y/n could even set her bow down, her mother swept her up, arms wrapping around her in a fierce, joyful embrace. Neytiri peppered her daughter’s face with kisses, laughing as Y/n squealed and tried to squirm away.
“Ma tsamsiyu,” Neytiri murmured against her temple, voice thick with pride.
Y/n giggled, cheeks flushed, tail flicking with shy happiness. “Sa’nu! Everyone is watching!”
“Let them watch,” Neytiri said, pulling her close again. “Let them see what you are becoming.”
And they did.
The clan saw a girl who would one day guide them as Tsahik.
A girl who could track like a hunter, heal like a Tsahik, and shoot with the precision of someone far beyond her years.
A girl who carried Eywa’s touch in her dreams and her hands.
Jake saw a leader.
Mo’at saw a future.
Neytiri saw her daughter.

The flap of the kelku shifts softly as Tarsem slips back inside, careful so the night air does not rush in and wake the baby. The quiet settles again almost immediately, broken only by the distant hum of the forest and the steady rhythm of your own breathing.
You are still awake on the mat, staring up at the woven ceiling, listening for the small sounds outside where your son sleeps. You hear Tarsem before you see him, the faint drag of his steps, heavier than usual.
“Tired,” you murmur, your voice low so it does not carry.
He does not answer right away. He kneels beside you, close enough that you feel the warmth of him before his hand brushes your arm.
“Come here,” he says quietly.
There is no command in it tonight, just something worn down.
You shift without protest, letting him guide you as he sits and pulls you carefully onto his lap. His arms come around you almost immediately, firm at first, then loosening as if the moment he has you, something in him gives way.
Tarsem exhales against your shoulder, long and slow. For a while, he just sits there with you, his forehead resting against the side of your neck, his weight leaning into yours.
“You did well today,” he finally murmurs, his voice rough with exhaustion. “With him.”
Your fingers trace absent patterns against his arm. “He was fussy.”
“He is small,” Tarsem replies. “And you are patient.”
His grip tightens just slightly, grounding himself in the feeling of you.
“You are a good mother,” he says more quietly, like it matters that you hear it now, here, when no one else is listening.
You turn your head just enough to look at him, but his eyes are already closed. He looks younger like this, less like the Olo’eyktan everyone sees and more like the man who belongs here, with you.
“I am not here enough,” he adds after a moment, softer still. “For you. For our son.”
You open your mouth to answer, but he continues before you can.
“My time is not my own,” he says, “but it should be. At least more than it is.”
Your hand comes up to rest against his jaw, your thumb brushing lightly over his skin.
“We understand,” you tell him.
His eyes open then, searching yours, like he is trying to decide if that is true.
“I do not want you to only understand,” he says. “I want to be here.”
You lean into him instead of answering, resting your head against his shoulder this time. His arms adjust around you instinctively, holding you closer, more securely, like this is the one place he does not have to be anything but himself.
His hands roam your bare back, caressing the soft dark blue skin, grounding himself in the warmth of you. You melt into his touch, welcoming him after a long day.
Exhaustion tries to claim you, until you hear the soft stirs of your son, tiny cries, infancy reflexes from sleep. He quiets down quickly after, cooing softly as he settles back into his dream.
Your nipples peak against Tarsem’s skin, leaking breastmilk, a reaction to the sound of your son. His attention falls onto you, the feeling of something warm dripping down his skin. You push yourself off of his chest, gazing down just to find small beads of milk. Blush spreads across your cheeks, even though it was nothing to feel embarrassed about.
“Sorry,” you say sheepishly, reaching to grab a clean cloth.
“No, no baby. It is okay,” he says, pulling you back towards him.
He places a soft kiss to your lips, reassuring you that it did not bother him. Kissing down your neck, he sucks and bites gently against the skin, his fangs grazing the delicate pressure points. Across your shoulder, his lips leave wet, open-mouthed kisses, one after another.
Tarsem makes his way down your chest, gazing up at you for a split second before moving lower, licking a stripe up your abdomen where milk drips. Looking down at him, heat pools in your lower belly, desire drags its way up past everything else.
His kisses up your skin slowly, savoring the taste of you beneath all, tracing the stripes that cover your dark blue skin with his tongue. Capturing one nipple, his tongue swirls around the peak as he sucks gently, only taking what spills and nothing more. He hums against you, vibrations run through your body right to your core, an undeniable sensation building inside of you.
“Tarsem...,” you whine, breathlessly, doing your best to stay quiet.
His mouth lingers on your breast, sucking the last warm streams of milk with tender pulls, his golden eyes half-lidded in bliss as he finally releases your nipple with a soft pop, a thin trail of it glistening on his lips.
You cannot hold back the need coiling tighter in your core. Your hips roll forward instinctively, grinding your slick core against the rigid length straining beneath his loincloth. The friction sends shivers down your spine, your folds parting slightly over the woven fabric, coating it with your arousal as you press down harder, circling your clit against the bulge of his cock.
Tarsem's breath hitches, his large hands gripping your thighs to steady you, but he does not stop you, his touch is feather-light, reverent almost.
“O-oh,” he stammers, his deep voice cracking into a whimper.
You grind again, slower this time, dragging your wet heat along his length, feeling it throb and twitch in response. He bites his lower lip; eyes fluttering shut as a soft whine escapes him.
“Y-you feel... so g-good, I-I can't... please, do not stop, baby.”
His vulnerability undoes you, this mighty warrior reduced to breathless pleas, his body trembling beneath yours. You reach down, fingers fumbling with the ties of his loincloth. He helps with shaky hands, lifting his hips just enough for you to peel the damp fabric away.
His cock springs free, thick and veined, the deep blue length curving upward, the tip already slick with precum that beads and drips onto his thigh.
Tarsem whimpers again, a high, needy sound that vibrates through his chest as you position yourself above him.
“I-I need to be inside you,” he breathes, stuttering over the words, his hands sliding up to cup your breasts once more, thumbs circling your still-sensitive nipples where faint milk residue lingers.
“To fill you... make you mine all over again.”
You lower yourself slowly, the broad head of his cock nudging your entrance, parting your folds with a stretch that makes you gasp. Inch by inch, you sink down, your core clenching around him, walls fluttering as he fills you completely. He is stretching you wide, the fullness bordering on overwhelming, his girth pressing against every sensitive ridge inside you.
He fills you so utterly, his cock buried to the hilt, the base grinding against your clit as your ass settles on his thighs. Tarsem's head falls back against the woven wall behind him, a choked moan spilling from his lips.
“So t-tight, my love... y-you're... you're perfect,' he whimpers, words tumbling out in fragments, his hips bucking up involuntarily, a gentle rock to seat himself deeper.
His hands roam your body with worshipful strokes, over your hips, your waist, back to your breasts, squeezing lightly as if to coax more from you, though the flow has eased into a contented ache. The warmth of his skin bleeds against yours, the touch of his fingers spark in your body, leaving goosebumps in their wake.
You start to move, rising and falling in a slow rhythm, your core sliding up his length before sinking back down, taking him fully each time. The wet sounds echo softly in the kelku, mingling with his stuttering gasps.
'M-more,” you ask, stuttering over your words, too consumed by the feeling of his cock sliding deep inside you but wanting to please him exactly how he wanted right now.
“No, like this... I-I love it like this,” he murmurs, voice breaking into another whine as you clench around him deliberately.
One hand threads through your hair to pull you down for a messy kiss, tongue tangling with yours while the other supports your hip, guiding without demanding. You moan against him, and he swallows it hungrily, as if he has been starved of your pleasure for far too long.
The new angle allows you to slide him deeper, the tip of his cock curving up to meet your sweet spot, dragging out every whine and whimper it could. Your nipples drag across the rough skin of his chest, you grind your hips against his base, stimulating your clit with each thrust inside of you.
Your core clenches repeatedly around his cock, sucking him in, reluctant to pull him back out again, over and over until you walk the edge of your climax. You wrap your arms around his neck, steadying yourself, your nails digging into the skin of his back.
“Please T-Tarsem,” you whimper, begging for more, begging for him to push you over the edge.
His fingers grip your hips tight, trying to be soft, but failing. He lifts you slightly, just enough so he could thrust into you from below.
The veins and ridges of his cock slide through your walls, filling every last space, leaving nothing untouched. He angles your body, pleasuring you, finding a rhythm that creates harmony between the two of you. You muffle your moans, biting your bottom lip, pressing your face into the crook of his neck.
“I-I need you. Let me f-feel you b-baby,” he groans, the sound quickly turning into a whimper when his tip pushes against your cervix.
His words land deep in the pool of heat spread across your lower belly, threatening to snap like a spring coiled tight. A few more drags across your sweet spot push you over the edge.
Your nails rake down his back, your eyes shut tight, mouth hanging open ever so slightly as strings of incoherent words mixed with his name fall from your lips. He fucks into you, deep and raw, hitting every last nerve inside of your body, pleasuring you with a precision he always had.
Your entrance clenches tight around him, pulsing, fluttering around his length as cum gushes from your entrance. It leaks from your folds, down his shaft, pooling at the base of him. He continues to thrust, his movements growing sloppy and frantic as he chases the high he so desperately wants to share with you.
His cock throbs inside you, swelling thicker as his pace quickens just a touch. Tarsem becomes a mess of soft pleas and whimpers, his body arching beneath you, muscles taut but yielding.
“C-close... oh Eywa, I'm... I'm g-gonna...” he stutters, words dissolving into a drawn-out moan as his release hits.
His cock pulses hard, flooding you with hot spurts of cum deep inside, filling your entrance to the brim, the warmth spreading through your core as excess leaks out around where you are joined.
He holds you there, hips stuttering in shallow thrusts, riding out the waves whispering your name like a prayer until he stills, utterly spent, his arms wrapping around you in a tender embrace.
For a long time, neither of you moves.
Tarsem keeps you held against him, his arms wrapped tight as if letting go would undo something fragile between you. His breathing is uneven at first, slowly settling as the tension leaves his body in quiet waves.
You rest your forehead against his shoulder, listening to his heartbeat as it steadies beneath your ear.
“Stay,” he murmurs, his voice low and warm, almost pleading.
“I am not going anywhere,” you whisper back.
His hands shift, gentler now. One slides up your back, tracing slow, absent patterns along your skin. The other cups the back of your head, guiding you closer until you are tucked fully against his chest.
He presses his lips to your temple. Then your cheek. Then the corner of your mouth. Each kiss is unhurried and intentional.
“You feel like home,” he says softly.
You lift your head just enough to look at him. His eyes are open now, no longer clouded with need.
“You already have one,” you tease quietly.
He shakes his head.
“No,” he says. “This is different.”
His thumb brushes along your jaw, then down to your chin, tilting your face toward his.
“This is mine to return to,” he continues. “Not a place or a title. You.”
Past the flap, your son lets out a small, sleepy sound. Both of you pause, listening. When the quiet returns, Tarsem exhales softly, his shoulders loosening again.
“He will grow strong,” he says, "because of you.”
You smile faintly, “because of us.”
He studies you for a moment, like he is committing the sight of you to memory. Then, more quietly, almost like a confession, he adds, “I do not say it enough.”
“Say what?”
His gaze softens.
“That I see you.”
His forehead comes to rest against yours.
“I see everything you give. Even when I am not here to witness it.”
Your chest tightens. You reach up, brushing your fingers through his hair, smoothing it back where it has fallen loose from his braids.
“And I see you trying,” you reply. “Even when you think you fall short.”
He huffs a quiet breath, something like a tired laugh.
“I fall short often.”
“Not here,” you say, pressing a soft kiss to his lips. “Not with me.”
His eyes close again, and he leans into you fully this time, no restraint left in the way he holds you reverently.
“Let me stay like this,” he murmurs.
You shift slightly in his lap so you are both more comfortable, your arms wrapping around his shoulders.
“As long as you need.”
The night stretches on around you, quiet and warm. His breathing evens out again, slower now, deeper. One of his hands slips to your side, resting there like it belongs.

son spider best spider, neteyam is about to have a stroke bc of his stubborn ass mate, ao'nung is an annoying shit but he's your annoying shit.
It was just a scratch.
A faint trail of blood marked a delicate line across the expanse of your torso, a disquieting contrast against your azure skin. A burning sensation flared up on your sides and yet, in spite of it, you pushed yourself off of the tree's trunk, grabbed your basket of herbs and trudged back towards your village.
At your sudden movement, the scratch stung harder, sending a searing hot, white pain up your torso. Gritting your teeth, you bit back a hiss of pain.
You were fine. It was fine. You had probably just pulled it when you stood up.
As you approach the village, you notice how a few of your people turn and gasp at your state. A cool shiver ran up your spine as you drop your gaze—Was it that bad?
Then comes a startling onslaught of dizziness that engulfs your consciousness. Before you could comprehend what was happening, your cheek meets the coarse texture of the earth beneath you, a jarring impact that sends your basket tumbling from your grasp. With a grunt, you strain your head up to see the herbal leaves scatter about.
As you fall, a wave of panic ripples through the crowd. Faintly, you register multiple pairs of hands coming to your aid, hoisting your limp body onto a woven mat.
"Call for the Olo'eyktan!"
TARSEM
"If we strike from here, the trees will provide us with ample cover," Tarsem remarked, his fingers gliding across the aged parchment of the map, tracing the landscapes with a keen eye.
Warriors and spotters encircled the table, their gazes fixed on his every move, minds soaking in every detail of the strategy unfolding before them. It was due time they began planning for their next attack on the RDA bases, it had been months since then.
Before the next words could be uttered, the room was thrust into chaos as a young girl burst through the door, her arrival punctuated by ragged breaths and a wild panic etched across her face. The warriors instinctively parted, creating a path through the sea of bodies, granting her passage toward Tarsem.
"Ma Olo'eyktan!" she panted, her voice trembling as she clutched his forearms tightly. "The Tsahìk was discovered unconscious deep in the forest. The healers are calling for you!"
"What?" Tarsem's expression tightened, a flicker of worry crossing his eyes. He swiftly surveyed the assembled warriors and spotters, his tone strung but composed as he addressed them.
"Continue the preparations," he commanded. "But be ready to adapt the plan if necessary. I will go and check on my mate. Until I return, Osek, you will be in charge."
Osek, a respected warrior renowned for his leadership abilities, nodded with a solemn expression. The rest of the group echoed their understanding, their voices hushed with concern. With the meeting taken care of, Tarsem turned his attention back to the young girl.
"Take me to her," he murmured, ears flat against his head as his posture turned rigid.
The young healer, with her face flushed and brows furrowed, nodded. Taking his hand, she began to lead Tarsem out of the tent, her steps matching his swift pace as they traversed the winding paths of the settlement.
As they ventured closer to the outskirts of the settlement, the ambient noises of the bustling camp faded away, replaced by the serene symphony of nature. Approaching the clearing where you had been laid to rest, Tarsem's steps grew cautious as he gently parted through the small crowd of healers, making his way towards your side.
"Ma'yawne," he whispered, his voice affectionate yet worried at the same time. The Na'vi knelt down beside you, brushing your damp hair away from your face. His gaze, a pool of tenderness, drank in the sight of you lying on the woven mat.
"What has happened?" Tarsem questioned those around you, only for them to shrug. They were just as clueless as he was.
Tarsem sighed, his frown deepening as he took in your appearance once more, noting the dizziness in your eyes and the pallor on your cheeks. However, it was the deep, crimson gash marring your side that captured his attention the most—a wound he guessed was inflicted by either a sharp branch or an encounter with Pandora's many wild animals.
"I…I am alright," you murmured, your voice a fragile reassurance, as you ran a hand over the wound, hissing at the touch. "It is not as deep as it seems. A few bandages will suffice. Return to your duties. The warriors need you."
"Nonsense," Tarsem shook his head, moving to tuck his arms beneath your back and knees. "I cannot leave you like this," he insisted, his voice firm yet gentle. "Your well-being is of utmost importance. The meeting can wait. Right now, you need proper care."
The look in Tarsem's eyes left no room for argument, reaffirming that his mind was made up.
Heaving a sigh, you gave in and nestled into his embrace, placing your weary head atop his chest, finding solace in the rhythmic beat of his heart. With ease, Tarsem carefully stood up with you in his arms, cradling you against his chest. Your mate began carrying you back towards the settlement, calling out for a few of the more experienced healers to follow along.
Once you had arrived in your shared kelku, he set you atop a hammock, staying close to your side but making sure to clear the way for the healers who would attend to you.
Turning your head back, you smiled up at him. "Thank you, Tarsem."
Tarsem simply hummed and lowered his head, pressing a gentle kiss against the side of your temple, lips a feather-light caress against your skin.
"Of course, yawne," he murmured, his voice a hushed vow. "I will always be here for you."
NETEYAM
"Kiri, it's nothing," you sighed, pushing yourself off the hammock, arms trembling. "I swear to you, I feel much better now."
Kiri clicked her tongue disapprovingly, shaking her head as she pushed you back down. "I am not even finished with your bandages, and the healing paste hasn't taken effect yet. You must rest, tsmuke."
You wrenched a hand into your disheveled hair as you let out a frustrated sigh.
"The herbs I gathered earlier—moonflower, healing rose—they're all gone, they lay wasted on the ground," you lamented. "We need to restock our supplies before the ambush in two days. It's absolutely crucial. Without fresh provisions, we'll be ill-equipp—"
"I will have the trainees gather the herbs, and I will inform Neteyam about your injury so you can rest easy. I am very sure he will understand," Kiri interrupted your rambling, her tone firm as she began wrapping bandages over your torso. At the mention of your mate's name, a pang of apprehension shot through you.
Oh Eywa, how would Neteyam react? He was already so protective of you, and this injury would no doubt only amplify his vigilance. You won't be able to leave the house for a month without him tailing after you like a second shadow.
"There's no need to involve Neteyam," you hurriedly interjected, forcefully pushing Kiri aside as you mustered the strength to stand on your feet, despite the pain. "I'm fine."
Before you could take another step, the tent curtains were abruptly thrown open, and a figure rushed in. A pair of amber eyes widened with concern as they locked onto your limping form.
Neteyam.
As he approached, his typically composed and reserved expression cracked, revealing the deep worry etched on his face.
It seemed like he ran all the way here. The Na'vi was in a frantic haste, sweat cascading down his furrowed brows while beads of perspiration clung to his jawline.
"By Eywa, what happened?" Neteyam's voice quivered with panic as he reached out, hands trembling slightly while he steadied you.
You tried to muster a reassuring smile, but the pain coursing through your body made it difficult. "Neteyam, I… I'm fine," you managed to say, your voice strained.
"No, you are not fine." Neteyam's distress was palpable, his hands gripping your shoulders tightly. "Look at you!"
Now he could properly see the swelling and gash on your torso, haphazardly covered by the unfinished leaf bandages clinging to your skin. A surge of horror washed over his face as he beheld the sight, eyes blowing wide open. Quickly, you wrapped your arms around yourself, trying to conceal the extent of your injury.
"'Teyam," you attempted to calm him, shaking off his iron grip. "It's not as bad as it looks. It's just a scratch."
"A scratch?" he repeated, shaking his head in disbelief. "What are you talking about, syulang? That is no a scratch. Why are you even up? You need to rest."
"I have responsibilities to fulfill, Neteyam," you huffed, stomping your feet in frustration, your actions mirroring those of a stubborn child. "You, of all people, should understand that."
Neteyam's tail lashed by his feet, a clear warning tinged with a touch of anger. Protective instincts, ingrained deep within, surged forth like a tempestuous storm.
"Do not argue with me," Neteyam's voice turned firm, his tone low. "I understand your position as Tsahìk is demanding, but this stubbornness will not aid your recovery. Do you really think you can heal in such a state?"
His stern words struck you hard, causing you to flinch involuntarily. The weight of his concerns settled heavily upon your heart, and yet your unwavering determination refused to give in to his protectiveness.
"I know why you're worried," you sighed, gently placing a hand over his chest, hoping to soothe him. "But I cannot remain here while important tasks await me. There is work to be done!"
Neteyam heaved a sigh, pushing you back down. His hands, roughened by countless battles, reached out to tenderly cradle your face. With a gentle motion, his thumb traced delicate circles onto your cheeks, the soothing caress speaking volumes of his love. His intense gaze then softened, those golden eyes losing their fiery edge as he allowed his anger to dissipate.
"I know you have an unwavering sense of duty, sevin," Neteyam murmured, the endearment rolling off his tongue like silk, a term reserved only for you. "And I love that about you. But sometimes, the best course of action is to prioritize your own well-being," he continued, peering deep into your eyes.
His warm, tender affections began to gradually chip away at the walls of your stubborn resolve. Though you initially resisted, deep down, you couldn't deny the truth in his words. Neteyam always knew how to get you to back down.
A bitter sigh slipped from your lips, laced with a hint of snark that thinly veiled the vulnerability simmering beneath.
"I hate admitting defeat," you grumbled, your tone tinged with reluctance, "But fine, you win. I'll rest."
As your words reached his ears, the corners of Neteyam's mouth curved into a grin, a blend of relief and amusement dancing in his eyes. In that moment, he couldn't resist the urge to draw closer, resting his large hands on your waist as he leaned in to press a tender kiss against your lips.
"Thank you, yawne," he chuckled softly.
TSU'TEY
(context: spider is your adopted son; although i decided to hint at him being an avatar in this scenario, you may also choose to perceive him as human instead.)
"Call for the Olo'eyktan!"
As you lay upon the bark floors of the Hometree, your mind spun, dots of black tainting your vision. With a low whimper, you attempted to raise yourself from the ground, only for a pair of hands to push down on your shoulder. You watched as your son's face came into view, twisted into a panicked expression as he took in your injury.
"Ma? Hey, hey, stay with me," Spider rasped, tenderly running his hand over your damp forehead. Eyes narrowing, you found yourself struggling to focus on his face, barely catching the look of worry in his eyes, and the lines of fear etched on his brow.
"Spider…" you managed to whisper, your voice barely audible. "I-It's okay. I can get up."
He shook his head, his grip on your shoulder tightening. "No, Ma, you need help. You can't push through this on your own."
You wanted to protest, to insist that you should be able to endure such trivial injuries, but your body betrayed you, the pain overwhelming and disorienting. As a healer, unlike your son and mate who were seasoned warriors, you weren't used to such levels of pain.
The stinging on your torso intensified with each shallow breath, making it difficult to form coherent thoughts or speak. Noticing your distress, Spider hurriedly reached a hand up to his communication device, paging for his father.
"Dad? You there?" Spider's voice cracked, laden with worry. "It's an emergency."
A familiar voice crackled through the communication device, filled with concern. Tsu'tey spoke, the rush of wind howling in the background. He must have been out on a ride with his ikran. "Ma'Itan, what has happened? Is everything alright?"
Spider's voice trembled as he responded, his distress palpable. "No, Dad, it's not alright. Mom is hurt. She fainted while gathering herbs, and she's in pain. There's a gash on her side. I…I don't know what to do."
Tsu'tey's heart plummeted, his entire being consumed by an overwhelming fear that gripped him to the core, seeping into the depths of his being. Reacting swiftly, his grip tightened on the reins of his Ikran, abruptly pivoting its course back toward Hometree. In the midst of his panic, he nearly forgot to respond.
After a momentary silence, his voice broke through, steady but laced with urgency. "I am on my way. Just keep her stable."
Spider nodded, ending connection before he moved to cradle your head in his hands. "Hang in there, Ma. Dad is coming. Just hold on a little longer."
As your consciousness wavered, the world around you seemed blurred and distant. Tremors of pain pulsed through your body, making it increasingly difficult to concentrate on your son's voice. Soon enough, your strength fails you, and your eyelids grow heavy. Everything around you fades away, and your consciousness slips into oblivion.
.
As you gradually regain consciousness, the world before you seemed shrouded in a haze, the remnants of your unconscious state still clinging to your senses. Blinking away the drowsiness, you found yourself within the confines of a dimly lit tent, its earthy aroma intermingling with the soft flickering glow of a nearby fire.
"Tsmuke," Neytiri says softly, her voice filled with both relief and worry. The tenderness in her voice offering you solace, like a soothing melody in your ears.
"Thank Eywa," she grins, running her hand up your cheek. "Do not worry; you are safe now."
Before you could respond, a firm arm wraps around your center, tugging you into a sitting position. Spider frantically pulls you up and into his tight embrace, face twisted in relief as he sighed deeply. "Hey, Ma. I'm so glad you're awake."
"My brave boy," you hummed, a bittersweet warmth erupting in your chest as you pressed a tender kiss on his forehead. The familiar scent of the forest clung to him—a reminder of his untamed spirit as a warrior who roamed the jungles with no fear.
At that moment, your gaze shifted to Tsu'tey, who anxiously hovered by the entrance, tail whipping by his feet. Sensing the tension in the air, Neytiri quietly left the healing tent, granting you a moment of privacy. With her departure, Tsu'tey finally lifts his head and catches your gaze, taking it as a sign to approach you.
"Yawne," He calls out for you, his voice trembling like the leaves of a quivering tree. It's a plea and a rebuke, all at once, his tone a blend of protectiveness and affection.
Spider then releases you from his hug, allowing his father to take his place. Tsu'tey kneels down and moves to hold you, embracing you so tight that it was as if he was trying to merge your souls together, desperate to ensure your safety.
"What were you thinking?" Tsu'tey grumbles into your hair, "I have told you many times to never venture out into the forests alone. You know better than to endanger yourself."
Sighing, you leaned into the embrace of your mate, finding comfort in his presence. Your cheek finds rest against Tsu'tey's collarbones, the rough texture of his beaded necklace grounding you in the familiarity of his touch.
"I did not know the cut was that bad. I had a lot of work to attend to, so I thought I could handle it," you admitted, your voice weary.
As you nestled against him, Tsu'tey found his anger melting into something warmer, something softer. He draws you back slightly, hands cupping the sides of your face as he presses a gentle kiss to your forehead, his voice now a caress against your skin.
"I know your work is important to you," he grunts. "But you must prioritize your safety."
"Tsu'tey—" you started, only to be interrupted.
"I cannot bear the thought of losing you. I have lost too much over the years," Tsu'tey took a moment to pause, his gaze searching the depths of your eyes for understanding. He needed you to understand. "This cannot go on like this. You must promise me that you will be more careful."
The vulnerability in his voice tugged at your heartstrings. A wave of guilt washed over you as you realized the fear you had awakened within him, causing old scars of his to resurface. With a sigh, you closed your eyes.
"I did not mean to frighten you. I will stay safer. I promise," you muttered, moving away from his embrace. "But things like this are inevitable. There will be times when you and Spider won't be by my side to protect me."
Tsu'tey and Spider exchanged glances, their expressions filled with concern. Without uttering a word, Tsu'tey enveloped both you and Spider in an embrace.
"We will come for you," he declared firmly. "No matter what. When you need us, we will be there."
AO'NUNG
As your consciousness flickered in and out, you became vaguely aware of the commotion around you. The panicked voices of your clan members and the urgent footsteps only added to your disorientation. And yet, amidst the chaos, a singular phrase pierced through the fog of your mind with an undeniable clarity.
"Call for the Olo'eyktan!"
That sent a chill down your spine, and you knew that the situation had escalated beyond your control. With great effort, you managed to open your eyes, the vibrant blue hues of the sky and the crashing waves on the shore seeping into your vision in strained fragments.
It did not take long for, Ao'nung to arrive. He emerged from beneath the waves, propelled by his skimwing beneath him. A frown was etched onto his face as he waded through the shallow waters, gliding across the waves with unmistakable urgency.
Upon reaching the shores, he swiftly dismounted from his skimwing, leaping onto the sand with ease. Pushing through the growing crowd that had gathered around you, he cleared a path to reach your side.
Lifting you off of the mat, he cradled you against his chest. "Yawntu?" Ao'nung's voice cut through the haze of your mind, "Are you alright? Can you hear me?"
With utmost care, your mate then shifted your body to the side, his gaze fixated on the deep cut marring your torso. The gash, painted in a vivid crimson, created a sharp contrast against the mesmerizing azure of your skin. The sight of it made his jaw tense, frustration evident.
"I-It is just a minor wound," you managed to utter through gritted teeth, your mind clearing as pain began to pulse through your body.
"Tsireya has already been called...She will help, but for now, I need your help in cleansing this," you murmur, gesturing to your bloodied side.
With a disgruntled nod, Ao'nung hoisted you into his arms and ordered the crowd to disperse. Once the people had departed, he began to take steady strides towards the water.
As the water levels reached the height of his chest, he shifted his position to support your head in the dip of his arm, allowing most of your body to be submerged beneath the rocking waves.
"I knew I should have come with you," he sighed, his voice barely heard above the salty swirling winds.
After a few seconds of struggling to find your voice, you managed to respond, though the words emerged with a subtle undertone of discomfort. "'Nung, it's only a cut…I think I just scraped myself along against a tree."
"Ah, yes, just a scrape against a tree," Ao'nung scoffed wryly, his mouth curling into a mocking sneer as his fangs peeked out from his lips. "I didn't know trees had razor sharp branches."
Cupping water in his hand, Ao'nung began to wash the upper parts of your cut that wasn't submerged. As the sting of saltwater made contact with the rest of your open wound, a sharp hiss of pain escaped your lips. This caused him to furrow his brow, concern swimming in those looming teal eyes.
"The pain seems to suggest otherwise," he noted, a heavy dose of sarcasm dripping from his lips.
"Funny," you replied, rolling your eyes in response.
Despite his biting remarks, his actions betrayed him, revealing a tenderness beneath that arrogant façade. His fingers moved with an uncharacteristic grace, tracing the contours of your cut as he delicately cleansed it, each touch a testament to his natural instincts as a mate to alleviate your discomfort.
It was a softness that you had grown accustomed to, but you knew that if any of the warriors caught a glimpse of their rugged chief in such a nurturing and affectionate state, their jaws would hit the ground so hard, you'd think Eywa herself had caused an earthquake.
As Ao'nung tended to your wound, he used his other hand to gently turn your head, guiding your gaze to meet his. Confused, you raised your brow. "Yes? What is it?"
"I will accompany you to your forages from now on. And I will not take no for an answer," he declared, his voice flat and void of any mirth.
And there it was.
"Ma Ao'nung," you cooed, your voice a velvety caress that was laden with both affection and understanding. "You worry too much about me. I am not as fragile as sea glass, you know."
A flicker of raw emotion danced across his irises, momentarily unraveling his stoic guise before he swiftly masked it with a dismissive scoff. "You should know by now that I won't let anything happen to you," he grumbled, ears tucked back as he meets your eyes.
"You may not be as fragile as sea glass, but you are precious to me," he says, voice a gravelly murmur. "I know you're strong, but that doesn't mean I will stop worrying."
With an amused click of your tongue, you leaned back against him, enveloped in the comforting warmth of his embrace. The gentle lapping of the ocean against your skin provided a soothing respite, easing your troubles away as you allowed him to dote on you.

Intimacy Challenge: Day (5)
30 Day Intimacy Challenge
word count: 1.8k
Day 5: A romantic way to make your partner feel special is to write out a list of 10 (or more) things you love about them.
Tarsem:
You had been having a rough couple of days, so Tarsem decided to write you a list of all the reasons he loved you in hopes that it would brighten your day and make you feel better. After writing them out he placed it on the table with a few of your favorite flowers for you to find when you got home this afternoon.
You had returned home from your chores and just helping out around the camp, to an empty home meaning Tarsem was probably still helping Jake or Tsu'tey. You set your stuff down and walked over to the table where you saw a few of your favorite flowers and a folded-up piece of paper which piqued your interest.

Z-dog:
Your girlfriend got creative with your list, she made up each reason on each card and made it into a little book for you to look through whenever you needed it. She had been working on it for two weeks since it was difficult to use the human-sized stuff, but luckily one of the scientists helped her out so it looked good for you and it was finally finished.
"Hey sweetheart, can you close your eyes for a minute?" She asked you.
"Okay, they are closed." You told her making her smile as she walked into your room and gently placed the book in your hands.
"Okay now open them." She said nervously.
You opened your eyes and saw a book in your hands labeled '10 Reasons Why I Love You' making you look up at your girlfriend as she nodded her head for you to look through it.

"I'm glad, I love you too and just wanted to have some reasons why I do in case you ever forget." She said smiling at you.
Jake:
You had been gone a hunting trip for a few days and before you left, you had brought up wanting a list of reasons why Jake loved you and so that was what he was working on well finishing up since you were due home any day now. He had just finished up when you came through the door with a smile on your face.
“Ma Jake!” You said running into his arms.
“Ma y/n, oh I’ve missed you so much babygirl.” He said placing kisses all over your face.
“I missed you more ma Jake.” You said curling into his lap.
“Well I have something for you.” He said handing you the list.
“Reasons why I love you ma y/n, and how I wish you were here right now.” You said with a smile.
“You didn’t.” You said looking at him.

“Thank you, this was so sweet.” You said pressing a kiss to his lips.
“Your welcome sweetheart, you deserve all the reasons why I love you but it would take to long to tell you or to even write out.” He said hugging you.
“It’s alright you can tell me in small doses.” You said making him smile.
“Well I can show you another reason and how much I love you right now.” He said picking you up and carrying you to y’all’s bed.
Tsu'tey:
Tsu’tey was half listening to Jakes conversation with one of the warriors about how he wrote his mate a reasons why I love you list and it got him thinking that maybe he should make one for you. He hasn’t always been the most expressive with your relationship and figured you might like something like this so one night while you were sleeping he worked on it.
“For you ma y/n.” He said handing it to you while you got ready that morning.
You looked at it and saw that it said ‘Reasons why I love you ma y/n’ which made you look at him shock because you were still getting used to him expressing his feelings.
1. You waited for me patiently until I could figure things out, thank you for that.
2. When I am with you, I feel hopeful about the future and that is why I love you.

9. I love the way you give me your undivided attention even when I am going on and on about the silliest of things.
10. I love you because you are not only beautiful on the outside, but also have an even prettier heart.
Tsu’tey was nervous until he felt you throw your arms around him which caused him to wrap his around you.
“Thank you, I know how hard it is for you to express your feelings like this so for you to do this for me means a lot.” You said looking up at him.
“No need to thank me yawne, you deserve to know all the reasons why I love you because I don’t always express it.” He said cupping your face.
“Trust me I know you love me even when you don’t say it. It’s hard to describe but I can feel it through your actions if that makes sense.” You said to him.
“It makes so much sense yawne, I love you.” He said placing a kiss on your lips.
“I love you ma Tsu’tey.” You said resting your forehead against his.
