Opposing forces join together in exquisite balance. This palpable dance of duality is echoed throughout the Universe - push and pull, day and night, fire and water, earth and sky, yin and yang.
Those who began as enemies form a bond of perfect trust and unconditional love. The Tale of Two Lovers tells the story of Oma and Shu. Each belonged to opposing tribes at war, but their love was as strong as the mountain of their first meeting. Their secret trysts were held in elaborate tunnels they formed underneath the mountain. After the tragic end of their relationship, and the war, a beautiful city was built to honor them and the harmony they brought forth.
Whether referring to an alliance between friends or romantic entanglement, this undeniable union only serves to empower both sides. This card indicates a very strong bond that will not be broken easily.
Upright: partnership, duality, union
Reverse: imbalance, disharmony, conflict
This is an alternate version of this card.

“It is important to draw wisdom from many different places. If you take it from only one place, it becomes rigid and stale.” Wise Uncle Iroh says this to Zuko when teaching him the relevance and application of all four elements; water, earth, fire, and air - all equally necessary and potentially dangerous in their own right. He has come to this spiritual awareness through the triumphs and, perhaps more poignantly, mistakes made throughout the journey of his life. He has learned the value of patience, when to be passive and even when it is time to put up a fight. Stray in one direction for too long and you could lose sight of the middle path, true balance. Take a deep breath, pour yourself some tea, and find your inner “Iroh”.
Upright: balance, patience, moderation
Reverse: imbalance, excess, extremes

After any period of turmoil and darkness, a small light of hope appears. As time goes on, this glimmer will grow and bring with it peace and stability. The Star represents that tiny light amidst the darkness, renewing life and reminding us of our kinship with the Universe. In times of dire stress, physically or emotionally, an Avatar can go into ‘Avatar State’ which allows for cosmic connections with all of the Avatars of the past, drastically increasing the Avatar’s knowledge and power. While an accomplished Avatar can invoke this at will, it is when one is pushed to their physical or emotional limit that this last-hope defense mechanism is activated. The Avatar is then able to overcome almost any challenge he or she faces. Remember to keep your weary eyes fixed on The Star for there is always hope.
Upright: hope, faith, rebirth
Reverse: lack of faith, despair, insecurity
