Ok, it’s been a few days since I’ve seen the last Avengers movie and now I’m ready to put my thoughts into the world. These are my opinions which I’m entitled to and should not be thrown at with hate.
*First off, the whole ‘shit’ scene with Morgan and Tony, literally my dad and I had the same incident when I was two, and it made my dad, and I laugh so much because of it.
*Marvel finally made my dad cry. His mom passed away on the 18th of April, and Thor’s reaction to seeing Frigga again started a chain reaction with my dad.
*Steve having to fight himself and using Bucky as a way to win
*Finally some well-placed cursing.
*Joe’s openly gay character (this one will pop up again)
*Tony’s conversation with Howard and Steve seeing Peggy and her freaking desk pictures.
*The Girl Power Fight scene
*Pissed off Wanda Maximoff
*Steve wielding the hammer
*The Steve and Peggy ending and Sam getting the shield.
*Probably many more scenes but it's early where I am so this is the short list.
Now to explain what is pissing me off about other’s reactions:
*Stucky people! The whole point of their relationship is to make sure the other is living their best life. Steve was not. Bucky saw him first after becoming an old man and smiled for the whole scene. Does it hurt him? Yes. Is he still happy for his friend? Damn right he is. Bucky knew how much Steve loved Peggy, the whole Avengers team did. I’m not a Stucky in a gay way shipper, it feels to wrong to me in a way since it sometimes crosses a line. I am a Romanogers shipper though, and Nat dying actually killed two options I wanted for her. I’m happy Steve got that life he deserved after years of fighting. HE DESERVED THE REST, just like Tony did. (You have a problem with this I will have a civil conversation with you, but if you wish to dominate with how I’m wrong and you’re right, Don’t talk to me)
*Sam getting the shield. Would I have liked Bucky to get the shield? Yes. Do I completely understand Sam getting it instead? Of course, I do. Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes is not the same one we see in the comics, and the storyline is different. Steve never dies, and Bucky never feels like he has to protect his friend’s legacy. We skipped the part where Bucky could have taken the shield. Bucky also agrees that Sam deserves it. He nods and shows he’s ok with it. Bucky is also going to help Sam figure out what Captain he wants to be. Bucky will be there, and Sam will be grateful for it.
*Joe Russo’s extra. Joe Russo’s openly gay character, even in a small role, is the first step the studio needed. Remember if Pepper had not worked in Iron Man how much you want to bet we would not have gotten Black Widow or any other female character. Also, he’s the first openly gay, Deadpool is pan, Tessa Thompson’s character is bi, and Teenage Warhead has a girlfriend. Remember for storytellers it’s all about what’s going to build that character quickly, especially in a movie. For writers, we should know this. We cut shit out all the time that doesn’t actually move the story along. It will get better, it’s just going to take some time, and possibly a new generation of characters. (Also I’m Jewish so trust me I understand. I’m Bi and Jewish, I have no character that actually is like me in any movie... Ever with a happy ending.)
