The box is left outside of Spock’s quarters; the wrapping is simple, just a light blue paper with a silver ribbon. Inside is a simple tea pot and mugs, as well as a few blends of tea. On the outside, there’s a note fastened right near the center of the box, hand written.
Commander,
I didn’t think you’d be one for Christmas presents, but I thought you might like a way to make tea the traditional way, and not from the replicator. And you might as well have something equally as traditional to enjoy or serve it in. Happy holidays, Spock.
He allowed a small smile to cross his face as he read the card on the gift. He took them inside at once and began to make himself some tea. Real, warm tea. While he waited for it to brew and settled himself at his desk, he got out his PADD and composed a message.
Lieutenant Lane,
I have received your gift. I found it to be very thoughtful, and I am grateful for your generosity. It shall be very pleasing to have real tea in my quarters again. It is one of the luxuries I most miss from Vulcan. I noted there are two cups present, and as such I would be honored if you would accompany me for tea in the near future.
As it remains December on Earth, I believe it would be appropriate to wish you a Merry Christmas.
He sent the message to Iris's PADD and enjoyed the wonderful fragrance coming from his teapot.
