Got an email about a sequin mermaid corset being back in stock or wtvr and... you know I didn't realize it before but now it's so obvious that yes. I think I do need a sequin (they're reversible 😍) mermaid looking corset. Clearly my life isn't doing so great without one so, obviously, the scientific thing to do would be to get one and see if it improves. 🤔

Lightkeeper
Guy for a minecraft origins server that's starting up soon!! Her name is Awas (she/her) and she's a transfemme moth lighthouse keeper :)
Again so sorry for the blurry photo but I'm still away from this wonderful book (I am coming home right now though).
A bit of a fun fact: Polish people sometimes call instant ramen: "Chinese soups" (pol. "Zupki chińskie"), so "makaron chiński" [eng. "Chinese noodles"] is just referring to any kind of instant noodles.
Day xv
"Chinese noodles with shrimp"
Ingredients [for 2-3 people]: 250g of "Chinese shrimp flavored egg noodles" [instant noodles], 15 large fresh cooked shrimps or crayfish tails, powdered coriander, 2 large tomatoes, half a buillon cube, 250g of thick cream, 1 bunch of dill, half a teaspoon of potato flour, half a teaspoon of sugar, half a lemon, 3 tbsp of olive oil
How to make:
1. Peel the shrimp. Keep their heads.
2. Blanch the tomatoes. Peel, seed and blend them.
3. Chop the dill.
4. In a small saucepan, pour and cook the cream over low heat. Add half of a crushed buillon cube. Stir constantly and add three-quarters of the chopped dill. Add the blended tomatoes. Season with lemon juice and sugar.
5. Add half a tablespoon of potato flour to a tablespoon of cold water and that to the sauce, stirring until it thickens. Then set it away [from the stove].
6. Cook the [instant] noodles in lightly salted water with a tablespoon of olive oil. Then drain thoroughly and place in a warm oven.
7. Heat two tablespoons of olive oil in a large non-stick pan or saucepan. Add the peeled shrimp and shrimp heads (the latter only to improve the overall flavor). Sprinkle it generously with coriander and fry over high heat for no longer than a minute.
8. Remove the shrimp heads. Add the prepared noodles to the shrimp, sprinkle with the remaining dill and mix it together. Serve with hot sauce.

Hey Bhaleesi, I was trying to draw the Demons of the East and just realised I knew nothing of Eurydicean fashion. I was imagining them in their late teens, so ofcourse the fashion was Briarean in my head, but I kinda just....😅😅😅😅 So did the Demons wear kurtas and all or did they don something more 'universal'? (Please tell me Ayden wears a crown prince circlet)
And Selene's hair is so wild!😭
Wow, I'm honored that you'd want to draw my characters! I'd love to see it if/when you're comfortable sharing!
Writing AWAS has made me envious of webtoon illustrators because there's so much fashion I want to show but words can only go so far 😭.
For Eurydicean fashion as a whole, I imagine it following patterns from the 1910s-1920s depending on the location. Briar's fashion inspirations are from South Asia and West Asia mostly (I imagine the cultures would've developed around a particular element, or no particular element in the case of magicless people). Earth and air lean more South Asian, so ... long story short Briar's fashion is inspired by South Asian (with a somewhat greater focus on Indian) fashion in the 1910s-1920s. There's also a lot more design freedom too, since AWAS is a fantasy story at the end of the day.
So Ayden, Selene, and Arion would've worn what teenaged nobles wear back then. They'd have worn clothes like saris, lehengas, sherwanis, kurtas, etc for both formal/royal events and everyday life. Ayden and Selene would also have worn universal and more-European style clothes since while they identify more strongly with Briar, both of them were born in Sanguis.
And yes, Ayden would have worn a crown or circlet to distinguish him as the crown prince. It would most likely have some measure of snake iconography, since the Caedises do love their serpents
I searched around to find some pictures to give a better visual 😅
1st picture taken from here
2nd is of Anita Delgado, a Spanish woman that married a Maharaja
These are both of Princess Sudhira, daughter of the Maharaja of Cooch Behar. There are many others here. They are of her dressed in both Indian and Western styles, similar to how Selene would do
Male "Briarean" fashion was a bit harder to find, since a lot of younger upperclass men in that time would've dressed more Western because of British colonization. I did find these, however.
