Love it in DS9 when the little cute B plot is added in between the craziest main story known to man, but I also love it when the B plot is just as important as the A plot, but without the angst, so no one cares.

Like when Kira was having the O’brians baby? That was pretty important, but it was made a B plot. This was probably because you can’t control when someone is going to have birth, so they were just fitting it in somewhere, but there’s other examples too.

What about Rom and Leeta finally getting together? Y’know the actually pretty big part of the later show was just a B plot, which is actually quite surprising to me as I went into DS9 knowing they were going to get together, but I suppose nobody really knew how big of a part they would play.

Overall, I just find it funny that there is so much variety in Star Trek B plot’s from “extremely important to the plot” to “just there for a few seconds to have a fun story in between” all the way down to “what was the point of this” and “whatever that writing thing was between Jake Sisko and the creepy energy woman”.

nocturnal hc for jayce and viktor where jayce works best during the day and viktor is more active at night so they spend their individual waking hours trying to compile as much information as they can for the few hours their schedules cross

sometimes one of them will fall asleep in the lab but even with their close proximity, the one awake can never get information with their partner asleep; jayce would lean over to ask viktor for some clarification on his notes only to see that he’s sleeping for once in his life and would try to avoid waking him, viktor wouldn’t give a shit and try to fruitlessly wake jayce up for some feedback only for him to be totally conked out. before they learn to adjust and compromise their schedules, they’re only ever awake at the same time for 3 hours a day
