AU Snippet (Moonflower Prince!AU)
Major spoilers for my one piece fic, Not Quite Black. Specifically, my OC's, Noir D. Baccara's, in-fic backstory
There was a veiled beauty right in front of him. How could he see that the person was a beauty despite being veiled, you ask? Why, the answer is quite simple: he was currently in Amazon Lily—and the young Pirate Empress, Boa Hancock herself, had glowered at him the moment his eyes had strayed towards the aforementioned veiled person.
(Rayleigh is many things, but daft is not one of them. At least, that's what he liked to think. Shakky would most likely say otherwise)
"You," she gritted out, yet even though disgust and fear hatred marred her face, it didn't detract not even a lick of her loveliness. A blessing and a curse all the same. "What are you doing here, Silvers Rayleigh?"
Oh, wow. I got full-named. She must be in a really bad mood, then, the semi-retired pirate thought, not without mirth. As if reading his thoughts, the veiled person tilted their head.
"Goodness… what's with the cold reception? I thought we had an understanding, Ms. Boa Hancock?"
Icy blue eyes glared at him; had she eaten a different type of Devil Fruit, Rayleigh was sure he'd be dead in a dozen different ways by now.
The veiled person giggled.
"Sister," the person—he called out. And Rayleigh couldn't help but raise an eyebrow when what was clearly a young man reached out to Boa Hancock, notorious man-hater, and wasn't turned to stone at that very moment. "Don't be so mean. He holds no ill will to our people."
Our people, huh?
Hancock grimaced. "Baccara, be silent."
The person—man—Baccara said nothing, but even Rayleigh could feel the pout behind his veil.
"But sister…"
"No. Zip it."
Baccara let out a soft huff of annoyance. A chuckle slipped out of Rayleigh at the exchange.
