Cymbella sp. (Bacillariophyceae - Cymbellales) is a common diatom found in freshwater. It can be epiphytic on mud, sand and stones.
At present, the genus Cymbella contains 1381 species and infraspecific names, of which 241 have been flagged as currently accepted taxonomically.
