Sonadow Steppers (or: How I Destroyed My Fingers for the Drip)

My fingers are actually throbbing as I type this, but the vision has been realized.

I decided to customize these foam "leather" sandals with some hand-embroidered Sonic and Shadow portraits.

The Technicals:

Method: 100% backstitch.

Time: 3 hours over 3 days.

The Struggle: The material was so thick I had to use a push pin to pre-poke every single hole and then use the edge of my table to force the needle through.

It was a total battle, but now I can have them with me every step of the way. Swipe for the close-ups of the ultimate lifeform and the fastest thing alive!

Got a wild hair (or is it hare?) to do a blackwork/backstitch project last week. Here she is!

Since I didn't have anything I could use to sketch or trace the flower on the black fabric, I drew it on a sticky note and then cut it out and tacked it down. Did the outline, then cut each petal from the paper one at a time, using the new edge to continue the outline. It worked out pretty well!

Who needs to go out socialising with other human beings when you could be at home, snuggled under a blanket with your fave tv show and a super soft kitty? That’s the life I require at all times, thank you.

Being an introvert + having a cat as your best friend is the correct way to do things. 😌
