Bagginsshield: Bilbo the dwarf Gardener

This is a pretty old idea of mine and I don't really think about it anymore, but I used to dream about a plot bunny where Thorin, Kili and Fili survive, but Bilbo misunderstands things and thinks he's not welcome at Erebor. Not feeling at home in the Shire anymore and missing his friends, he dresses up as a dwarf (with shoes, ugh! They are worse than the fake beard) and jouns a caravan from the blue mountains. He's in luck and gets a job as a gardener at Erebor, because the dwarves care very little about gardening, but they want to control the growth on the mountain a little and having a bit of their own grown food is a good idea. That works pretty well - though Bilbo is miserable and the dwarves miss him too - until Thorin, while inspecting the outside of the mountain, meets him, recognises him immediately and just kisses him.

For extra drama, Gandalf could come back at some point in between and report that Bilbo has been declared dead in the Shire and hasn't been seen in a while.

You know, I stayed up all night long, went to bed at 6:30 am this morning because I reached a stopping point in my work and I spent three hours writing an off the head self servung random oc piece that I doubt I will post. I’m in awe and amazed how y’all do it. I’m so scared someone is just going to be like, “ABSOLUTELY HOT GARBAGE. 0/10 HOW STUPID”

Then there’s another part of me that screams “SO WHAT? WHO GIVES A SHIT? DO IT (insert emperor palpatine here) TAKE THE LEAP”

I don’t have a beta reader either, so if you’re interested please don’t be afraid to ask. Not to mention this particular fandom is 52 years old and I’m not sure exactly how many people would even read it to begin with.

If you iu come across this and have any advice, I’d love to hear it.

Help! I need help finding a fanfiction.

It is a Thorin/Bilbo fanfiction about an alternative universe version of the hobbit. What I remember is Thoron attempts to get Erebor back but can’t and becomes slightly gold mad. During this time he signs a treaty with the shirts for food. I. The treaty it says that he must marry a member of the Thain’s family. After defeating Smaug and the gold madness, Thorin, a bit reluctantly, fulfills the treaty but chooses Bilbo rather than a female hobbit. ( the hobbits are a bit homophobic in this story). Bilbo agrees to marry Thorin because he thinks he’s attractive. Bilbo moved to erebor and they navigate their marriage. There is a background plot of the fellowship going off to destroy the one ring at the same time this takes place and in the middle( after they forgive things out a bit) the Thain sends an ex of Bilbo’s to Erebor to ruffle feathers.

i can't remember fhe name of the fic but i think its on AO3 or Fanfiction .net.
